Bring The Family To The Special Advance Screening Of FREE BIRDS In St. Louis THIS SATURDAY

free-birds-FREEBIRDS_1Sht_rgb_lowres

On a quaint, family-owned farm, a giant turkey flock lives a quiet, complacent, corn-stuffed life. All everyone cares about is feeding time and grazing in the sun with the Farmer, who they swear will bring them to “Turkey Paradise.” Everyone, that is, except for Reggie (Owen Wilson), a whip-smart turkey whose bad-mouthing of the Farmer and disinterest in the mundane, overfed turkey existence makes him an outcast among his flock.

Reggie’s life is changed forever when an unexpected visit from the President of the United States lands him the esteemed honor of “Pardoned Turkey.” This means living the plush life at Camp David, complete with TV On Demand and cheese pizza. By being pardoned, Reggie has found his own Turkey Paradise - a place where he (and he alone) calls all the shots! That is until Reggie is plucked from his paradise by Jake (Woody Harrelson), the relentless founder–and only member–of the “Turkey Freedom Front.”

Jake has only one mission: to change history forever and save all of turkey-kind.

Directed by Jimmy Hayward and featuring the voices of Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Amy Poehler, George Takei, Colm Meaney, Keith David, Dan Fogler, Carlos Alazraqui, Carlos Ponce, Danny Carey, Lesley Nicol and Dwight Howard, FREE BIRDS will be in theaters November 1st.

JONAH HEX Reshoots Get a Consultant

jonah hex

JONAH HEX is going back in for reshoots.   This is according to Bloody Disgusting, but the most interesting bit of the article isn’t the fact that the reshoots are occurring.   What is most interesting about this news is that CONSTANTINE and I AM LEGEND director Francis Lawrence is being brought in as a consultant to JONAH HEX director Jimmy Hayward.

Now, there could be any number of reasons why Warner Brothers would be ordering a few weeks worth of reshoots, and there are just as many reasons why Lawrence would be brought in as a consultant.   Hayward, who is directing his first, live-action feature, might not have much experience getting a cast and crew who believed they were finished back into the game, and Lawrence may be helping with morale.

Lawrence has had his own experiences with reshoots.   Both CONSTANTINE and I AM LEGEND went back for reshoots, the former, it was reported, to help spice up a few scenes for a film that was being hit with an R rating, the latter to work on a troublesome ending.   Either of these reasons could either be hitting JONAH HEX or execs are foreseeing this and preparing for the worst.

There is also no word on who is being brought back in for these reshoots, though Josh Brolin, who is the title character of the film, is assumed to be involved.   There is no telling if these reshoots will be interfering with his next project CARTEL, which is set to begin shooting in January.

Either way, JONAH HEX is set to release on June 18th, 2010, and whatever reshoots are taking place will be seen then.

Official Shot of JONAH HEX Released

I can hear the photographer now.   “Give me a little scar, Josh.   A little scar.   A little hat.   NO EYES!   NO EYES!”

That’s precisly what we get here with this first, official shot from JONAH HEX courtesy of Omelete.   While some are claiming this looks a bit like a costume and makeup test, I, personally, think this is a publicity shot that is going to be part of one of the film’s posters.   Regardless of its intentions, this pic is one more piece of evidence as to how bad-ass Josh Brolin is and how amazingly bad-ass he is going to be in this role.

JONAH HEX hits theaters on August 10th, 2010.

First Look: Josh Brolin as ‘Jonah Hex’

‘Jonah Hex’ starring Josh Brolin as the former Confederate soldier turned bounty hunter is well into production.   Today, we bring you the first images of Brolin in his Jonah Hex getup, makeup and all.

Check ’em out:

The makeup looks great, and Brolin looks like an awesome choice for this part.   The Western has been making a comeback of sorts over the past, few years, and mix that with the fact that this is based on a badass DC comic’s title makes it all the more anticipated.

‘Jonah Hex’ is set for release on August 6th, 2010.

Shannon and Arnett Join ‘Jonah Hex’

michael-shannonwill-arnett

Oscar nominee Michael Shannon and SNL vet Will Arnett have both signed on for roles in the comic book Western, ‘Jonah Hex.’ Â  Jimmy Hayward is directing, and Shannon and Arnett are joining a cast that already includes Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, and Megan Fox.

‘Hex’ tells the story of  scarred bounty hunter tracking a voodoo practitioner who wants to raise an army of the undead to liberate the South.   Brolin is starring as Hex with Malkovich playing the film’s villain.

Arnett will play a Union soldier who enlists Hex and is blindsided by the dirty fighting style of his enemies. The role is not inherently comic.

Shannon plays Doc Cross Williams, the bizarre ringleader of a brutal gladiator circus event.

Production is due to start this month in Louisiana.

John Malkovich joins ‘Jonah Hex’

malkovich

Malkovich Malkovich (gotta say it twice) has signed on to star opposite Josh Brolin in the big-screen adaptation of ‘Jonah Hex’.

Malkovich will be playing the role of Turnbull,  a wealthy Southern plantation owner whose son is killed by Union soldiers during the Civil War. He blames Hex, a former confederate soldier-turned-hardened bounty hunter and gunslinger.

Jimmy Hayward (‘Horton Hears a Who’) is set to direct from a script by ‘Crank’ writers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Â  Production is set to begin in April.

What do you think? Â  Is it a pretty obvious choice to put John Malkovich into the role of a villain? Â  How do you think ‘Jonah Hex’ is going to turn out as a whole? Â  How many times do you have to say “Malkovich” when referring to the actor? Â  Let us know by commenting below!

Hayward Moves From ‘Horton’ to ‘Hex’

Back in early December, we brought you the report that ‘Punisher: War Zone’ helmer Lexi Alexander had hoped to jump on board the ‘Jonah Hex’ project next. How’d that work out for her? Instead, Warner Bros. is moving forward with director Jimmy Hayward, who previously directed ‘Horton Hears a Who!’. That’s quite a different change of pace.

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (‘Crank’) were previously attached to direct, but they bowed out back in November over creative differences. The studio quickly put together a list of names, which included Andy Fickman (‘The Game Plan’, ‘Race to Witch Mountain’) and McG (‘Charlie’s Angels’) before narrowing it down to Hayward.

The film, which already had Josh Brolin attached to star as the part-time bounty hunter in a Confederate uniform, will go into production in March or April if everything works according to WB’s plan.

What do you think? Â  Is Hayward the right choice to step into the ‘Hex’ project? Should it have been someone with some live-action experience under their belt? Would Fickman have crowbarred The Rock into a role somewhere if he were brought on board? Let us know by commenting below!
