A Broadway classic that has delighted audiences for generations comes to the big screen with a new, contemporary vision in Columbia Pictures’ comedy, ANNIE.

Academy Award® nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014.

Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz).  But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in.  Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.

Check out the first trailer and poster for the film.

Director/Producer/Screenwriter Will Gluck teams with producers James Lassiter, Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith, and Shawn “JAY Z” Carter, Laurence “Jay” Brown, and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith with a modern telling that captures the magic of the classic characters and original show that won seven Tony Awards. Celia Costas serves as Executive Producer.  The screenplay is by Will Gluck and Aline Brosh McKenna, based on the musical stage play “Annie,” book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and on “Little Orphan Annie,” © and ® Tribune Media Services, Inc.

ANNIE will be in theaters December 19, 2014.

Review: ‘The Women’

Quinn:

As a chick flick lover, I was so excited about this star-studded movie.   If y, Candace bergenou are a fan of Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith, Bette Midler, or Candice Bergen this might be a movie you would enjoy.

As the main character, it was awesome to see Meg Ryan in a leading role again, I feel like she has been gone for way too long. I have a deep love for Debra Messing and her laugh out loud personality that she portrays on screen and I was not disappointed by this performance. Candice Bergen, oh Murphy Brown†¦ played the role of Meg Ryan’s mother and did a great job guiding her and giving her advice.

I laughed and cried. The movie made me thankful for my girlfriends and mom.   Things get difficult at times but everyone is always looking out for you even if they do not go about it the right way.   There was not a male role in this movie; men were just topics that were discussed in many forms.

Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘The Human Contract’ Trailer

Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of Will Smith, has done pretty much everything in the entertainment industry. She has a long list of movies under her belt, good ones I might add, she has written for her “All of Us” TV series and was a lead singer in a band. But now she can add “movie director” to that list. From what I see in the trailer, The movie actually looks pretty decent. The story revolves around a successful corporate type harboring a deep, dark secret, who befriends a free-spirited stranger. This stranger encourages him to ditch his stuffy lifestyle and live life in reckless abandon. The movie stars Jada, Paz Vega, Jason Clarke, Idris Elba and Ted Danson. There is no distributor on board and thus no release date. Check out the trailer below.
