THOR Poster Debuts

Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures has released this first poster for the upcoming THOR. Come back later on this evening for the trailer debut. In the meantime, what do you think of the new Thor poster?

Here’s another look from the photos from over the summer.

Synopsis:

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, THOR stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Clark Gregg, and Colm Feore. THOR will be in theaters in May 2011.

THOR Comic Con Trailer

The trailer for THOR that appeared at Comic Con is finally here and it looks fantastic.

“Whoever wields this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” Very classy having Tony Hopkins in there. Clark Gregg’s amusing delivery at the end had me chuckling. Alien robot lands on Earth and Agent Phil Coulson has the lackadaisical attitude of “been there, done that.” All in all, THOR looks awesome.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, THOR stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Clark Gregg, and Colm Feore. THOR will be in theaters in May 2011.

Who Wants to See THE LOSERS With the Movie Geeks?

THE LOSERS aren’t dead, and they aren’t going down without a fight, either.  You can watch this fight when the film hits theaters on April 23rd, or you can be one of the lucky ones to see the film three days early.  We have passes to give away for the April 20th screening at Ronnie’s 20 Cine.

First and foremost,  this is a St. Louis screening.  If you will not be in St. Louis on February 23th, please do not enter this contest.

Here’s what you got to do:

  • THE LOSERS is about a group of 6 Black Ops members who seek revenge against those who turned on them.
  • The picture above shows three of these people.
  • Send me an email at kirk@wearemoviegeeks.com telling me who isn’t shown in the picture.
  • Hint #1: The people shown are Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, and Idris Elba.
  • Hint #2: The film’s IMDB page should help.

That’s all you got to do.  Send me those emails, and I’ll be selecting the winners at random from the correct answers.

And, if you’re not one of the lucky winners, be sure to check out THE LOSERS when it hits theaters on April 23rd.

THE LOSERS Trailer and Cast Photo Hits

The idea of putting Jeffrey Dean Morgan squarely into every, badass, group-centric, comic book movie is slowly coming to fruition.   With the latest trailer and cast photo from THE LOSERS, it’s looking like a battle between Clay, who Morgan plays in the new Warner Brothers film, and the Comedian could very well put an end to the world.

Here’s that cast photo, by the way, courtesy of The LA Times:

It looks like it could easily be converted into the film’s, first poster, as well, and bears a striking resemblance to the film’s Comic-Con poster from last year:

The trailer for the film can be viewed over at MSN right now.   The awesome thing about this is that it doesn’t feel like a comic book film but rather a kickass, new version of a classic TV show.   Some are saying it’s going to be a better version of THE A-TEAM than the upcoming Joe Carnahan A-TEAM movie. Can’t say I disagree with that.

THE LOSERS hits theaters on April 9th, 2010.

‘Takers’ Poster Released?

takers poster

Yes, that’s a question mark at the end of that headline, becaue it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to find out this was some kind of elaborate ruse by Screen Gems to see…well, I don’t know what they would be accomplishing by putting out this poster.  I should say putting out this poster knowing full well it wasn’t finished.

The poster comes to us today courtesy of Coming Soon, and it features some of the worst, possibly the very worst, Photoshop job you can ever imagine a professional studio putting on a released poster.  Just look at Hayden Christensen and Paul Walker’s heads.  There’s no way those are regulation size.

Not only that, does it really pay to have the guy at the very top of the cast list, Matt Dillon, appear absolutely nowhere on your poster?  I know, in the film, he’s not part of the group, but, at least, have the guy hanging outside by a repel chord or something.

It won’t surprise me to find Screen Gems contacting most websites who post this telling them to pull it.  And, it won’t surprise me to find Screen Gems going with a different company to put together their posters from now on.  For now, anyway, here’s your poster for ‘Takers,’ the worst movie poster ever put together.

The film is set for release on February 19th, 2010.

Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘The Human Contract’ Trailer

Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of Will Smith, has done pretty much everything in the entertainment industry. She has a long list of movies under her belt, good ones I might add, she has written for her “All of Us” TV series and was a lead singer in a band. But now she can add “movie director” to that list. From what I see in the trailer, The movie actually looks pretty decent. The story revolves around a successful corporate type harboring a deep, dark secret, who befriends a free-spirited stranger. This stranger encourages him to ditch his stuffy lifestyle and live life in reckless abandon. The movie stars Jada, Paz Vega, Jason Clarke, Idris Elba and Ted Danson. There is no distributor on board and thus no release date. Check out the trailer below.
