Giving both the film and the filmmakers some extra breathing room, Warner Bros. Pictures’ action adventure PAN has been moved from its previous July 24th opening to fall and will begin its global launch with the new domestic release date of October 9, 2015.
The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President, International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.
In making the announcement, Fellman said, “We wanted to give ‘Pan’ the space to extend its theatrical run, so taking it out of the cluttered summer season made the most sense. Moving the film to the heart of the fall will allow us more time to screen the picture, enabling us to capitalize on what we anticipate will be strong word of mouth.”
Kwan Vandenberg added, “Peter Pan is a beloved figure the world over, and the fall corridor is perfect for this epic adventure story that explores the origins of this young hero. In many markets we can take advantage of school holidays that ensure a greater opportunity for families to enjoy ‘Pan’ together.”
Director Joe Wright expressed his support for the move, noting, “As you might expect, the fantastical story of Peter Pan involves very complex effects and I did not want to compromise on quality in finishing the film. This allows me and my team the time to complete the movie and tell the story the way it should be told.”

Varèse Sarabande will be releasing the soundtrack to Sony Pictures’ CHAPPIE, the latest score by the legendary Hans Zimmer. This is Zimmer’s first all-electronic soundtrack since the 1980s, when he first developed his ground-breaking style.

Director Neill Blomkamp’s road to CHAPPIE began more than 10 years ago. As a young director and visual effects artist, Blomkamp created a show reel of fake commercials that would show agents the kind of work he was capable of producing. “I was just messing around, and I designed that robot in 2003 in Lightwave,” he explains. “It was influenced by a lot of Japanese influences and anime; I’m not as into anime and manga now, but I wanted the genesis of the entire film to remain true to what it was – this bizarre, weird, fake commercial. I wanted Chappie to be very much like that robot.”
With music by Hans Zimmer, CHAPPIE opens in IMAX theatres domestically on March 6, 2015, following the overseas IMAX launch dates beginning as early as March 4.

Actor Tom Cruise is being honored with the Japan Cool Content Contribution (J3C) Award for acting for his performance in EDGE OF TOMORROW (2014) from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the Consulate General of Japan, Los Angeles. The 2nd Annual Japan Cool Content Contribution Awards Ceremony will be held on September 13, 2014 at the Official Residence of the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles.
For the first time, the J3C Awards will be held in conjunction with the LA EigaFest (Japan Film Festival). The 4th Annual LA EigaFest, presented by the Japan Film Society, will be held September 12th – 14th at the Egyptian Theater.
EDGE OF TOMORROW was based on the Japanese sci-fi novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and starred Cruise as Major William Cage, a reluctant soldier stuck reliving the same day.
By now you’ve heard of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that’s sweeping the country. Politicians, Athletes, Philanthropists, Celebrities, Filmmakers, Actors… pretty much everyone is participating to raise awareness and money for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. In the Ice Bucket Challenge, the participator has a choice to either dump a bucket of ice water on his head or donate $100 to the ALS charity of his choice in lieu of accepting the challenge.
After completing the Ice Bucket Challenge and posting a video of the event to social media, the participator then names three other people he knows to also complete the challenge and make a donation to a charity or NPO that fights ALS.
Donations towards this great cause have reportedly reached $22.9 million in donations since July 29.
