Watch The New Trailer For Gareth Edwards’ MONSTERS

A new domestic trailer for MONSTERS, somewhat different than the one we showed you back in July, has debuted on Apple iTunes. Alien invasion films a-plenty with MONSTERS and SKYLINE due out by the end of 2010 and BATTLE: LOS ANGELES scheduled to be released in March 2011. Cool beans by me.

Synopsis:

Six years ago previously, a NASA probe returning to earth with samples of an alien life form, crashed over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear, and half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain “the creatures”… The story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.

MONSTERS will also be shown in the United Kingdom on Saturday, Aug. 28th, at the Film4 FrightFest which runs from August 26 to August 30 in London’s Leicester Square. The film already saw some fantastic reviews out of SXSW and Cannes – including this one here from IGN. Look for MONSTERS on-demand on September 24th and in theaters on October 29th. You can like the film on Facebook.

As an extra treat, here’s a making-of video for the film.

Beware! A Scary MONSTERS Trailer Is Here

From IGN comes this new teaser trailer for Gareth Edwards’ MONSTERS. You can read IGN’s rave review of the film here.

Holy poop in a bucket. Does this look scary or what? Variety reported back in the spring that Magnet Releasing had picked up the North American rights to Gareth Edwards’ first feature, MONSTERS, shortly after its premiere at SXSW. The sci-fier is produced by Allan Niblo and James Richardson of Vertigo Films (BRONSON).

Variety went on to say:

In the pic, a NASA probe returning to Earth with samples of an alien lifeform crashes over Central America. Soon after, new lifeforms begin to appear and half of Mexico is quarantined. Story focuses on a journalist escorting an American tourist through the infected zone to the safety of the U.S. border. Project was filmed as a road movie, travelling through Guatemala, Mexico and the U.S. with locals involved with cast members Scoot McNairy (IN SEARCH OF A MIDNIGHT KISS) and Whitney Able (All THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE).

MONSTERS will also be shown in the United Kingdom at the Film4 FrightFest which runs from August 26 to August 30 in London’s Leicester Square.

Director Gareth Edwards’ sensational debut is an emotional road movie, an engaging romantic drama, a scary creature feature, a provocative post-Apocalyptic parable and an all-round remarkable achievement. For he dreamed up the affecting and compelling story and created all the visual effects on his laptop. But the amazing result gives his potent sci-fi fable an impressive epic look for a micro-percent of the usual Hollywood blockbuster budget. Six years ago a NASA probe returning to Earth with samples of alien organisms crashed over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear there and half of Mexico was quarantined. Today the American and Mexican military struggle to contain the giant creatures. It’s through this perilous infected zone that a cynical journalist must escort his stranded boss’ daughter to U.S. border safety. MONSTERS is involving and satisfying as it is surprising and moving, something utterly unique, original and awe-inspiring.
