This new trailer for SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD is beyond greatness….its geek awesome and already looks to be a box-office and late summer hit!

Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD Trailer is a Liar

I say liar only in the sense that it’s not exactly epic.  Hilarious?  Original?  Extremely Cool?  Yes.  Yes.  And double yes.  The trailer for SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD is all of those things and really more, but epic isn’t exactly one of those things.

Not that that’s a bad thing.  As someone who’s never even cracked the spine on one of the Scott Pilgrim books, I certainly don’t have much vested interest in the film going in other than it’s the new Edgar Wright film.  Michael Cera, as a name, doesn’t do all that much for me.  I’m more excited to see Chris Evans and Jason Schwartzman in their respective roles.  We don’t get much Schwartzman in this trailer, but Evans certainly wears his leather jacket like a true bad ass.

SCOTT PILGRIM Poster Rocks ShoWest

ShoWest in Las Vegas has officially kicked off, and, with it, comes a slew of new posters, theater lobby standees, trailers, and even reviews for upcoming films.  Coming Soon.net was on hand, and they caught a shot of this teaser poster for Edgar Wright’s SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD.

The tagline is:

An Epic of Epic Epicness

I couldn’t agree more, and this sweet poster proves it.  I’m not one who knows much about the Scott Pilgrim universe, so my anticipation for the film is based solely on the extremely cool premise and Edgar Wright’s spotless track record.  The early stills from the film were incredible and this new poster seems to continue on those feelings.  It is only a matter of time, now, before we find a trailer unleashed on us.

SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD Gets a Release Date

Edgar Wright’s much-anticipated graphic novel series to live-action film adaptation of SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD has just gotten it’s official release date. Set to hit theaters on August 13, 2010 — Michael Cera plays the title character, ready to kick some ex-boyfriend butt to secure the interest of his new girlfriend Ramona Flowers, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The cast also includes Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brandon Routh and Jason Schwartzman.

There isnt a whole lot going on, unless you count the hole in the ceiling, but you do get to see   Mary Elizabeth Winstead (left) who play’s Scott’s girlfriend Ramona V. Flowers, and Anna Kendric, Staceyk (right) who plays Scott’s sister Stacey Pilgrim.

‘Scott Pilgrim’ Creator Discusses the Film’s Format

There was some buzz that came across the wire last week when Brandon Routh made mention that Edgar Wright’s big-screen adaptation of ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World’ would be a “great mix of real people and drawn animation”.

MTV News sat down with Bryan Lee O’Malley, the writer/artist behind the ‘Scott Pilgrim’ comic series. Â  The animator shed some light on what the finished project may look like.

“I think what he said was kind of blown out of proportion by the rumor mill,† said O’Malley of Routh’s description of the film. “It’s not going to be like half the thing is hand-animated, like they’re saying on the Internet lately.†

O’Malley told MTV he believes Routh was explaining “more about special effects and incorporating some hand-drawn doodling and stuff.†

“It’s not going to be a hand-drawn Michael Cera,† he added.

As for whether he’d be the one providing that animation, O’Malley told MTV it was still early to weigh in on his level of involvement in that area.

“I might be involved a little bit,† he hinted, “but it’s still kind of early on that.†

‘Scott Pilgrim’ Characters Revealed… Sort Of

A couple of weeks back, we brought you the first images of Ramona Flowers played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Edgar Wright’s adaptation of the graphic novel ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World’.

Today, we bring you a whole bunch more pics.   We’re still not sure if this is going to be live action, animated, or somewhere in between, but this is a pretty interesting way to reveal actors/characters from your film.

Wright And Pegg Reunite Again For “The World’s End”

BBC News reports that writer/director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) and writer/actor Simon Pegg have confirmed that they’ll be collaborating again on a third spoof comedy together. Tentatively titled The World’s End it will be co-written by the two, effectively completing what Wright refers to as his “blood and ice-cream trilogy”, elaborating that “Shaun of the Dead has strawberry, Hot Fuzz has the original Cornetto flavour, and there will be a mint-choc chip in the third film”.

The project comes as part of a two picture deal with Working Title studios; the other picture being Baby Driver, an action/crime comedy which will come out first. Hopefully, the third collaboration between the two will also see them working again with Nick Frost, who always makes a Pegg comedy that much better.

Review: ‘Hot Fuzz’

Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost have re-teamed for a send of buddy action films and they do a marvelous job for the most part, but still fall short of their previous effort Shaun of the Dead.
Nicholas Angel (Pegg) is the premier officer in London, capturing numerous medals and awards for his valor. Angel is so good he is making everyone else look bad and the force unanimously decides to transfer him to the small village of Sandford. Angel begrudgingly accepts his duty as an officer and takes the transfer to only feel like a fish out of water almost immediately. After his arrival a series of deaths begin to occur and Angel begins to grow suspicious. Sandford is know for a non-existent crime and murder rate but has an alarming accident rate to boot.
Angel slowly builds a relationship with bumbling Constable Danny Butterman (Frost) who is in love with action movies and is a bit of a mockery of the force to Angel. Danny looks up to him though and over time and investigation of the deaths their bond grows quickly.
Like I said previously, the film is a send up of action movies, but doesn’t just spoof or parody them blatantly. There is a solid storyline and one that will keep you guessing and even maybe surprise you. Though, the film as a whole is not to be taken seriously as they are just having fun and playing with the conventions of the modern action film formula. That doesn’t mean the quality is sacrificed, as it is all top-notch, with tongue-in-cheek, nods and winks throughout, and everyone’s name is a joke or play on words the movie has plenty of gags to throw at you. Every clichà © imaginable is in here for an action film, ridiculous shoot outs, car chases, one-liners, mass arming of the heroes, and it’s all done purposefully corny and ludicrous on purpose; which makes it ok. Though, I will say that at the end it gets a bit to contrive for its own good and misses some really great opportunities to just be even more over the top and fun then it already is.
The movie works so well because the cast is having fun and clearly gets the joke they are going for. Jim Broadbent is great as the police chief and plays all facets of his role with great fun and enjoyment. Paddy Considine is also great as Detective Andy who busts the balls of Angel throughout. The rest of the police station crew is great in their bit parts as well and are all enjoyable on screen. Timothy Dalton is clearly having a blast as well playing the potentially villainous Simon Skinner and has some of the better laughs in the film.
The movie puts fun twists on predictive clichà ©s in the action story and is entertaining throughout. Just as rewarding on the second viewing with new bits being picked up along the way to only further your enjoyment of the film. Pegg is a comedy star and hopefully he breaks through in the US sooner rather then later with Edgar Wright and Frost in tow, because this comedy trio is tough to beat.
