‘Highlander’ … There “should” be only one

I am starting to lose faith in American ingenuity … Hollywood is an American staple, one that for the last century has been an integral part of our culture and our economy. Therefor, it also says a lot about out current state of creativity and, more importantly, the current state of the American audience’s level of creative and adventurous viewership. Yes, I am ranting about “remakes” again …

Highlander is in the process of being remade, “but will incorporate more backstory elements and prequel aspects that will be fleshed out to expand the story line in a way that is inventive yet faithful to the original story.” — Peter Davis, Producer of the original Highlander

Summit Entertainment has picked up the rights to remake this popular 1986 sci-fi fantasy film and has actually got the writers of Iron Man, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, attached to write the script. A director has not yet been attached. The big question is, even if the movie does turn out well … do I really want to see another remake? Then again, the Highlander TV series has a sizable following so its bound to make some money.
