RUSH Site Goes Live – Ron Howard’s Film In Theaters Sept. 20, 2013

Two-time Academy Award® winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon), teams once again with fellow two-time Academy Award® nominee, writer Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen), on RUSH, a spectacular big-screen re-creation of the merciless 1970s rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda.

Universal Pictures has set a date for the film and launched the film’s website  http://www.rushmovie.com/ . You can also check it on by liking it on Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/rushmovie

The epic action-drama stars Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) as the charismatic Englishman James Hunt and Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds) as the disciplined Austrian perfectionist Niki Lauda, whose clashes on the Grand Prix racetrack epitomized the contrast between these two extraordinary characters, a distinction reflected in their private lives. Set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, Rush portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed—handsome English playboy Hunt and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Lauda. Taking us into their personal lives on and off the track, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error. If you make one mistake, you die.

“Lauda and Hunt were rock stars of the race track: two absolute pros at the top of their game, in a time when sex was safe, driving was dangerous and all bets were off,” said Ron Howard. “They were also complicated, fascinating men and born rivals. RUSH will be as much about that personal rivalry as it will be about the thrill of the race.” Ron Howard’s Twitter- Follow the Production of RUSH

Also starring Olivia Wilde (TRON: Legacy) and Alexandra Maria Lara (The Reader), RUSH is produced by Andrew Eaton (A Mighty Heart), Howard, Academy Award® winner Brian Grazer (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind), Eric Fellner (Senna, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Morgan and Brian Oliver (Black Swan) and executive produced by Cross Creek Pictures, Exclusive Media, Todd Hallowell and Tim Bevan. Universal Pictures will distribute the film in North America. RUSH was shot on location in the U.K., Germany and Austria.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Brühl, Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara, Stephen Mangan, Christian McKay, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Jamie de Courcey, Pierfrancesco Favino, and Natalie Dormer, RUSH speeds into theaters September 20, 2013.

Jeremy Piven, Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe and Christian McKay are starring together in a new film, I MELT WITH YOU… and we have the red band trailer for your viewing pleasure!

Synopsis:

Richard (Thomas Jane), Ron (Jeremy Piven), Jonathan (Rob Lowe) and Tim (Christian McKay) are old college friends that gather annually for a week in Big Sur to celebrate their friendship and catch-up on each other’s lives. They seem like typical men in their forties – all with careers, families, and enormous responsibilities – but like most people there is a lot more beneath the surface.

As the week progresses, they go down the rabbit hole of excess as mountains of drugs are consumed to a blaring rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack.  Parties with much younger women spin out of control. Exhausted and run ragged, they bare their souls to one another revealing the disillusionment with their lives.  As the truth emerges, the reunion takes a much darker turn when a promise from their past is brought to light.  From director Mark Pellington, I MELT WITH YOU is a visually dazzling, wild and wooly trip deep into the male psyche, driven by four amazingly committed and profound performances.

Review: ME AND ORSON WELLES

meandorsonwelles

Orson Welles will probably forever be considered one, if not the best directors to ever live. His CITIZEN KANE and THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS are considered to be two of the greatest films ever made. Not only was he an amazing director, but also an accomplished actor and in theater, film and radio. ME AND ORSON WELLES picks him up as he forms the Mercury theater and the longest running Broadway version of CAESAR.

I was initially turned off by this film simply because it starred Zac Efron and an unknown Christian McKay who is portraying Welles. After watching the trailer I figured I would set aside all of my negativity towards Mr High School Musical and go in with an open mind… not to mention I used to have a mad crush on Claire Danes. I came out with a huge smile on my face and a feeling of disappointment that I havent seen everything Orson Welles has ever produced, acted, directed, wrote or even touched.

The year is 1937, Orson Welles has recently formed the Mercury Theater and is in midst of CAESAR, which is the first Broadway Shakespearean production. Welles is set to portray Brutus, and is in need of a new Lucius. When he comes outside to see Richard Samuels(Efron)

With no previous acting experience, and being the ripe young age of 17, he takes to Sonja Jones(Danes) who manages the Mercury theater. Being young he instantly becomes smitten with her and decides to do everything in his power to win her heart. Unfortunately for him, Sonja is more interested in making her career successful than to shack up with an underage guy with his head in the clouds.

Welles takes to Richard almost immediately and starts to take him under his wing. Slowly Richard realizes that Orson’s main concern is proving people of his genius and nothing will get in the way of that. When he challenges for the love of “his girl” Welles lashes out at him and puts him in his place. Richard is heartbroken when he realizes that all of the things Welles has told him is just bullshit that he unloads on all of his underlings.

Without going too much further into the plot I will stop with that and let you all go out and see the movie for yourself and make your own judgments. I will tell you that Zac Efron is capable of acting, and Claire Danes is as beautiful and charming as ever. The thing you will be thinking about for days after seeing this film is how absolutely amazing Christian McKay is in the film. Not only does he portray Orson Welles with what seems like great ease, but at times you actually feel like you are watching the real Orson Welles playing himself. His performance is awe inspiring and if he doesnt receive an Oscar Nomination than I have lost all faith in the Academy.

Richard Linklater had done an amazing job of bringing out amazing performances from everyone involved, and telling a story that will blow you away. I am in love with this film and hope that you all make it out to see the film when it hits a theater near you.

Overall Rating: 4 1/2 out of 5

ME AND ORSEN WELLES and a Domestic Trailer

me and orson welles

As one of the secret screenings from this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival, I am still kicking myself for not making time to see Richard Linklater’s latest, ‘Me and Orson Welles.’  The film stars Zac Efron as a student who works his way into a secondary role in the then 22-year-old Welles’ stage adaptation of “Julius Caesar.”  The film also stars Christian McKay as Welles, Claire Danes, Ben Chaplin, Kelly Reilly, Eddie Marsan, Leo Bill, Imogen Poots and Aidan McArdle.

Today, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, we have the domestic trailer for the film.

Check it out:

The film looks very poignant, and it could be just the role that breaks Efron out of the ‘High School Musical’ game and into some real acting roles.  McKay looks brilliant, as well.

‘Me and Orson Welles’ opens on November 25th.
