Ah, Summer is growing night, and the mass release of all the big movie trailers is upon us. With ‘Watchmen’ coming out in a mere 36 hours, you just know studios all over are pushing to have their tentpole films’ trailers attached.
One such film is ‘Public Enemies’. But you don’t have to wait to see it on the big screen. You can check it out right here, right now! Cue the Fatboy Slim any time.
Wow! This thing is going to be so amazing. I loved how digitally gritty ‘Miami Vice’ was, but it’s great to see some smooth, Michael Mann shots once again. Can’t wait.
MSN got the exclusive on the poster release for the Michael Mann-directed, Johnny Depp and Christian Bale-starring gangster film, ‘Public Enemies’. You can check it out above.
This is a pretty sweet poster. Gotta love Depp’s ’30s-style, Dillinger getup. The only thing about the poster that I would like to have seen changed is to have Bale’s name on the same level as Depp’s. I like the idea of these two powerhouses starring together in a film where they are on opposite sides of the law. Seeing Bale’s name underneath the film’s title makes me think it might be mostly about Depp’s Dillinger with Bale’s Melvin Purvis only playing a minor role.
Regardless, this is one of my most anticipated film of the Summer. If it is anything like ‘Road to Perdition’, the best film of 2002, it is going to kick major tail. With Mann at the helm and with Depp and Bale starring, there isn’t much more that could make this film better.
‘Public Enemies’ comes out on Wednesday, July 1st.
All this week, ‘Watchmen’ is running montages, each one centered around a different character, on different shows on NBC, Sci-Fi, and USA. Last night during a shownig of ‘National Treasure’, the clip for Dr. Manhattan aired, but you can check it out right here:
Honestly, I’m kind of trying to avoid these. I have read the ‘Watchmen’ graphic novel, so the storyline isn’t really going to be a surprise for me. However, I really don’t want to see all that much more than I’ve already seen before sitting down with my popcorn and Diet Coke to watch the movie in full. From what little of this clip that I actually watched, it seems to show quite a bit, something I’m sure all the clips will do.
If you just have to see these clips as they air, here is the schedule as announced by Warner Brothers:
* March 1 – Clip montage featuring Dr. Manhattan airs exclusively during “National Treasure” on USA Network.
* March 2 – Clip montage featuring Rorschach airs exclusively during “Heroes” on NBC.
* March 4 – Clip montage featuring Ozymandias airs exclusively during “Ghost Hunters International” on SCI FI.
* March 5 – Clip montage featuring Nite Owl airs exclusively during “Battlestar Galactica” on SCI FI.
* March 5 – Clip montage featuring Silk Spectre II airs exclusively during “Burn Notice” on USA Network.
* March 5 – Clip montage featuring The Comedian airs exclusively during “30 Rock” on NBC.
You can also check out the clips the day after they air over at NBC.com/Watchmen.
We haven’t talked about ‘Watchmen’ yet today, have we? Oh, we did? Oh well, there’s even more news coming your way. Zack Snyder attended a taping of “MTV Spoilers” where he answered questions about the film. Among the things he talked about was his director’s cut. Here’s what he had to say.
“The director’s cut is three hours and 10 minutes and comes out in July,” Snyder revealed, calling his original edit “considerably more violent than this … and sexier” and explaining that if the movie does well, the director’s cut will get a theatrical release in Los Angeles and New York.
Wait! What!?!? The ‘Watchmen’ Director’s Cut might get a theatrical release? Granted, it’s only on LA and NYC, but, if that does well, you never know how wide of a release it might get. Here’s hoping and keeping our fingers crossed.
Also, Entertainment Weekly’s issue this week (on sale today) features six different, collector’s covers featuring different ‘Watchmen’ characters one each one.
The onslaught for ‘Watchmen’ started months ago, but I get the feeling we are in the middle of the hurricane right here. Â Six, new character posters were released today on various websites. Â Including the sweet one above depicting Rorschach, there are the five below. Check ’em out!
These are all pretty nice, but are we really expecting less from anything that comes from this movie? Â I don’t think so. Â Let us know what you think below!
During the Watchmen presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con, Brazilian website Omelete was able to snap photos of the eight posters that were hanging at the DC Comics booth.
Head on over to Omelete to check out the rest of the wicked posters.
