St. Louis Gets A Little of The Dark Knight!

July 4th was special in the LOU this year because Warner Brothers brought us the Batpod and The Batmobile from the new film The Dark Knight! As part of a 13 city tour we were able to get an up-close, and for me, personal look at the vehicles used in this year’s blockbuster The Dark Knight. Here are few facts for you:

BATPOD:

  H: 3.5 feet   W: 3.5 feet  Ã‚   L: 12.3 feet

Equipped with three guns (Grappling gun, Machine gun and a cannon), th Batpod is no toy! Design for a swifter mode of transportation around Gotham. The Batpod is an operational motorcycle built for all-terrain environments.

Batpod weighs a sleek 728 lbs.

and we also got to check out the TUMBLER..aka the Batmobile!

BATMOBILE

Weight : 2.5 tons!

The “Tumbler” style Batmobile was first introduced in 2005’s film Batman Begins. It is equipped with Stealth-Angled panels to deflect Radar and infared themal imaging. the Tumbler has 2 front Hoosier racetrack tires and 4 Super Swamper 44″ tires in the rear along with no front axel allows the Batmobile to make extremely tight turns. The Batmobile has ballistic proof glass and a built in GPS. It is also loaded with lethal nad non-lethal rounds for its built in cannons (Tear gas, Sticky Foam, Fire Retardant Gel,etc.). The Batmobile has a Jet engine used for car chases.

A once in a lifetime event a true movie geek wouldn’t miss. So check out the photos below to see RamMan and Scott   “geeking out” with the vehicles from the movie of the year..The Dark Knight! (Charles eat your heart out) We also had a few fans of the website come by to say hi! So we treated them to a free screening of Tropic Thunder! See the Batpod and Batmobile in less than  2 weeks at a theater near you.

The follow-up to the action hit “Batman Begins,† “The Dark Knight† reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in his continuing war on crime.

With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker, who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.

Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger (“ Brokeback Mountain †) stars as arch-villain The Joker, and Aaron Eckhart plays District Attorney Harvey Dent. Maggie Gyllenhaal joins the cast in the role of Rachel Dawes. Returning from “Batman Begins† are Gary Oldman as Lieutenant Jim Gordon; Oscar winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules†) as Alfred; and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby†) as Lucius Fox.

“The Dark Knight† will be distributed worldwide in theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
