Marvel Studios’ AVENGERS: ENDGAME Bring Back Event Starting June 28 With New Footage

Jim Batts wrote in his review of Marvel Studios’ AVENGERS: ENDGAME:

All the craftspeople that worked on the film are at the “top of their game’ in crafting a real “love letter” to the fans of the Marvel show (many have said that each new film is another episode in an incredible TV show, one that the “tube” could never afford). There are entrances and exits, arrivals and departures, all with a feeling of coming “full circle”. You bet there will be more MCU entries (Spidey’s back in July), but this spectacular would be a fitting farewell. It’s a warm, enveloping “thank you” hug from “master overseer” Kevin Feige, and all those talented artists involved. AVENGERS: ENDGAME will stand as a most inventive, entertaining inspiration to all who continue on this legacy.

Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Endgame” made history this weekend with a record-shattering estimated global debut of $1,209.0 million, becoming the first film in history to surpass $1 billion in its opening weekend. It reached the billion-dollar threshold in just five days, more than twice as fast as its predecessor “Avengers: Infinity War,” which held the record at 11 days. The film also set domestic and international records.

“Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios team have continued to challenge notions of what is possible at the movie theatre both in terms of storytelling and at the box office,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “Though ‘Endgame’ is far from an end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these first 22 films constitute a sprawling achievement, and this weekend’s monumental success is a testament to the world they’ve envisioned, the talent involved, and their collective passion, matched by the irrepressible enthusiasm of fans around the world.”

“From the very beginning with ‘Iron Man,’ all we’ve wanted to do was tell stories that brought these characters to life onscreen the way we’ve experienced them as fans of the comics,” said Kevin Feige, President, Marvel Studios. “That we’ve had so many other successes in this journey leading to this unbelievable result with ‘Avengers: Endgame’ has been almost entirely due to the fans around the world who have supported us through it all. Our directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, and our writers, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, really brought this story home, and I am also incredibly thankful for our cast and filmmakers from across the MCU and all who’ve worked so hard to make these films the best they can be, including the amazing teams at Marvel Studios and Disney. And of course, without Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, none of this would have been possible.”

Said directors Anthony and Joe Russo, “We poured our heart and soul into ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ hoping to tell a story that would inspire audiences around the world. Our family of cast and crew felt honored to be entrusted with bringing the Infinity Saga to a close. To Kevin Feige, everyone at Disney and Marvel, and the incredible, global community of fans – thank you.”

Seven years after releasing the first film to ever break the $200 million mark in its debut with 2012’s “The Avengers,” Marvel Studios and The Walt Disney Studios have posted the first-ever $300 million domestic debut in history with “Avengers: Endgame.” The film kicked off with a record $60 million in Thursday previews contributing to a record first-day gross of $156.7 million. A record estimated Saturday of $109 million and a record estimated Sunday of $84.3 million bring the estimated debut to $350 million across three days from an all-time industry high 4,662 theatres.

The estimated international debut of $859 million, including a record estimated debut of $330.5 million in China, is also the highest of all time and even surpasses the previous global debut record of $640 million set by “Avengers: Infinity War” last year (which did not include a day-and-date debut in China).

Celebrate National Pie Day (3.14) With A New Trailer And Poster For Marvel Studios’ AVENGERS: ENDGAME

By Marc Butterfield

Marvel Studios’ AVENGERS: ENDGAME hits U.S. theaters on April 26, 2019 and a new trailer and poster have arrived.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

The new Avengers: Endgame trailer is out, and it is…full. It shows the survivors of the mad Titan, Thanos’ successful bid to end half of all life in the universe, coping with being survivors, and their decision to fight the outcome. In memories and clips (in black and white, with the only color in any of these clips being red, significant in some way) we see how it all began with Tony Stark, digging himself from his cave of captivity. From there, we see his evolution, and the beginnings of some of our other heroes, what drives them, how they operate. We see the return of Clint Barton (Hawkeye), notoriously absent in “Infinity War”, looking the part of the angry warrior, approached by Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson), Cap (Chris Evans), once again in possession of his iconic shield. There will be a battle, and a big one (you don’t get to pull off a name like “ENDGAME” without some galaxy-shaking battles). Notably absent; Thanos. Not a single frame dedicated to the orchestrator of this universal calamity. Nada. Not a peep. But something is up. In one of the final scenes, the team is seen in battle formation, white and red uniforms, an armor of sorts. It’s brewing, this storm. I’m excited, no doubt. To drop this trailer on Pi day (3.14), something is up. Or is a crazy coincidence.

And finally, in the last scene, we see Thor, in Earth duds, seemingly facing down Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), summoning Stormbreaker from behind her, and she doesn’t flinch. He quietly exclaims “I like this one”. These are two of the heavy hitters, although not yet on the same team, looking eye to eye. We can’t afford any more super hero duels, they all are going to have to work together to put the universe right. While I am truly hoping for “Epic”, I am left wondering “what’s the worst that can happen? They already lost the battle for half of all life in the universe? Worst case scenario, they are all still gone.” So it’s got to be the realization of their fallibility, introspection, and the need to Avenge the universe they failed to save.

Will they succeed? Almost certainly. This looks to be the end of Marvels phase III, and the launch of phase IV, so I hope that it’s a good one, and I also hope that they plant the seeds for Captain Marvel to renew the Avengers, as well as a cool show of all of them fighting the good fight. We will see.

Kevin Feige produces “Avengers: Endgame,” and Anthony and Joe Russo are the directors. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo, Trinh Tran, Jon Favreau and Stan Lee are the executive producers, and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay.
