THOR Comic Con Trailer

The trailer for THOR that appeared at Comic Con is finally here and it looks fantastic.

“Whoever wields this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” Very classy having Tony Hopkins in there. Clark Gregg’s amusing delivery at the end had me chuckling. Alien robot lands on Earth and Agent Phil Coulson has the lackadaisical attitude of “been there, done that.” All in all, THOR looks awesome.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, THOR stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Clark Gregg, and Colm Feore. THOR will be in theaters in May 2011.

YOU WILL MEET A TALL DARK STRANGER In This New Trailer

From Sony Classic Pictures comes this new trailer for Woody Allen’s latest film, YOU WILL MEET A TALL DARK STRANGER.

Impressive crew and cast – especially SHIRLEY VALENTINE’s Pauline Collins. I earnestly hoped that we would see more of her after her 1989 Oscar nominated role. Nice to see Oscar winner Vilmos Zsigmond of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND fame as the Director of Photography. Any new movie from the Academy Award winning director always feels like a fortuitous meeting. So why does Allen continue to make films?

It’s a distraction that has its own little challenges and consequently keeps my mind off morbid thoughts.

Allen explains his newest movie:

All these characters are running around trying to find meaning in their lives, and find ambitions and successes and love. They’re all running around, bumping into each other, hurting each other, getting hurt, making mistakes-a constant chaos. But in the end, after a hundred years, everybody on earth along with them will be completely gone, and after another hundred years, there will be a new set of people. And after all of the ambitions, and aspirations, and the plagiarism and adultery, what once was so meaningful won’t mean a thing. Many years from now the sun burns out and the earth is gone, and many years after that the entire universe is gone. Even if you could find a pill that makes you live forever, that forever is still a finite number, because nothing is forever. It’s all sound and fury, and in the end it means nothing.

Synopsis:

Woody Allen’s YOU WILL MEET A TALL DARK STRANGER follows a pair of married couples, Alfie (Anthony Hopkins) and Helena (Gemma Jones), and their daughter Sally (Naomi Watts) and husband Roy (Josh Brolin), as their passions, ambitions, and anxieties lead them into trouble and out of their minds. After Alfie leaves Helena to pursue his lost youth and a free-spirited call girl named Charmaine (Lucy Punch), Helena abandons rationality and surrenders her life to the loopy advice of a charlatan fortune teller. Unhappy in her marriage, Sally develops a crush on her handsome art gallery owner boss, Greg (Antonio Banderas), while Roy, a novelist nervously awaiting the response to his latest manuscript, becomes moonstruck over Dia (Freida Pinto), a mystery woman who catches his gaze through a nearby window. Despite these characters’ attempts to dodge their problems with pipe dreams and impracticable plans, their efforts lead only to heartache, irrationality, and perilous hot water. Taking its title from the prediction fortune tellers use to beguile their marks, YOU WILL MEET A TALL DARK STRANGER illustrates with wry humor how easy it is for our illusions to make fools of us all.

From Sony Pictures Classics, written and directed by Woody Allen and starring Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Gemma Jones, Freida Pinto, Lucy Punch, Naomi Watts, YOU WILL MEET A TALL DARK STRANGER will open in New York and Los Angeles on September 22, 2010. Opening everywhere at a later date.

You can find more on the film here on Facebook.
