I Love It When a First Official A-TEAM Shot Comes Together

a-team official header

Up until now, all we’ve seen from Joe Carnahan’s upcoming THE A-TEAM has been behind-the-scene shots from a distance, so imagine the grin from ear to ear today when this first, official shot of the film splashed around the net, courtesy of Dr. Malo.

There really is no denying how badass Liam Neeson is as Col. John “Hannibal” Smith, almost like he’s channelling Dolph Lundgren a bit with that blonde hair.   Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck and Sharlto Copley as Capt. “Howling Mad” Murdock are also pretty stellar.   Hell, even the van back and to the side looks menacing.   The only real setback in this shot is Quinton Jackson as Sgt. Bosco “B.A.” Baracus, who looks mean enough, but he also looks just like Jackson with a mohawk.   Unfortunately, Mr. T is so welded to that role that it is going to take some actual footage for Jackson to win die-hard fans of the series over.

Filming on Joe Carnahan’s big-screen adaptation of ‘The A-Team’ is just around the corner, and, today, we have our first shots of the famous, GMC van that will be used in the film.  From the looks of it, it’s just like on the show complete with red stripe, roof spoiler, and flood lights.  Splash News caught these shots on set while the crew was shooting a chase scene.

‘A-Team’ may get a new director, again…

As if we haven’t heard this before, Fox may finally be pulling together it’s project to bring the popular TV show ‘A-Team’ to the big-screen. Fox is in negotiations to sign Joe Carnahan to the director’s chair after they’ve gone through several actors, writers and directors, including John Singleton.

The screenplay was written by Skip Woods (Swordfish, Hitman) and is being co-produced by the Brothers Scott (Ridley and Tony) and the co-creator of the original TV series Stephen J. Cannell. Joe Carnahan is best known for his directing the movies ‘Narc’ and ‘Smokin Aces’. Fox is banking on this new crew as they’ve already set a release date of June 11, 2010.

Ice Cube Wants to Join ‘The A-Team’

LA Times chatted with rapper/actor Ice Cube who made it clear that he would like nothing more than to play the role of BA Baracus in the upcoming big screen adaptation of “The A-Team.”

Man, I am so ready to play BA Baracus. I was a big, big Mr. T fan,” said Cube . “I mean, c’mon, Clubber Lang [in “Rocky III”) was amazing. I even watched his Saturday morning show, but that was cheesy. I was like everybody else, I watched it for about six weeks and said, ‘Man this isn’t any good.’ But the ‘A-Team,’ I would love for this to happen.

At this point, director John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood) has been named as the director, Bruce Willis has been rumored to take the role of Col. Hannibal Smith and Woody Harrelson to play “Howlin’ Mad” Murdock. Cube confirmed that even though there is currently a set release date of June 12th 2009, the fate of the film is very much unknown. “Everything is in limbo,” he said.

Fans have already voiced their opinions of Cube taking over the role Mr. T made so famous. He’s simply not right for it.   Who do you think should play the big bad BA Baracus?
