Movies that id like to see redone..

When I was 13 i loved watching the remade version of Romeo and Juliet with Dicaprio and Claire Danes. It always made me wonder why they hadnt redone movies like Willy Wonka(now redone), and The Wizard of Oz(its only a matter of time).

The other movies that most people wont enjoy as much as I would if they were to be remade are.

masters.jpgHe-Man masters of the universe. I know, I know the first one was Super Cheesy(but in the 80’s I LOVE IT..and still do) why would they remake this one? Well, I dont think they went far enough into the movie. There was very little character development and that is partly because there was supposed to be sequels. Dolph had to do all of his own stunts, and hell the movie’s funding got pulled before they even shot the final fight scene. They didnt get a chance to explore She-Ra, Orko, or Skeletor that much. It was also supposed to be shot on Eternia, not planet earth. So as you can see, I think a remade version of this movie would be awesome, if done right.

As of right now Joel Silver is currently doing production on this movie, and it seems like they are going do some of the same effects that they did in 300. Should be good.

Deathproof is better..than your mom.

deathproof.jpg

So, I just re-watched DeathProof and honestly, i dont know why the hell everyone gave it such negative reviews. Maybe because it came on before Planet Terror, and it was overshadowed because of that. Who knows, but this is a really good movie. Quentin Tarantino did a marvelous job in writing and directing. Dont get me wrong, its definitely not a Pulp Ficition, but it is Tarantino!

The thing I am most excited about, is Machete coming out.

machete2.jpg

Robert Rodriguez is going to be doing this movie while they are filming Sin City 2. You might be asking yourself..”What the eff is Machete?”. Well my friend, you are in for a treat, this from wikipedia.
“It is an expansion of a fake trailer Rodriguez directed for the 2007 film Grindhouse. It will star Danny Trejo as the title character. Although originally announced to be released direct-to-DVD as an extra on the Planet Terror DVD, the film is now being produced as a theatrical release.”

Danny Trejo is great in everything he does, so this shouldnt be any different.

“He’s imitating Wolverine’s berserker attack”

Yes, thats right boys and girls, the Wolverine movie is just around the corner. Here is the info we currently have via Marvel.com;

“Hold on to your hats, mutant lovers! 20th Century Fox has released the following statement to update movie fans on “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” the highly anticipated X-prequel set to star Marvel’s lovable Canucklehead:

“‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ is set to star [Hugh] Jackman and will be directed by Gavin Hood (‘Tsotsi,’ ‘Rendition’). The producers are Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter (who produced all three previous ‘X-Men’ films), along with Jackman and his Seed Prods. producing partner, John Palermo. The film will be executive produced by Marvel Films’ Kevin Feige.

“Leading up to the events of ‘X-Men,’ ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’—written by David Benioff (‘The Kite Runner,’ ‘Troy’)—tells the story of Wolverine’s epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.”

We can’t wait! “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is set for a May 1, 2009 release. Filming is scheduled to begin early next year in Australia and New Zealand. Check back here on Marvel.com for more updates on the film!”

Ohh I am excited.

nationaltreasure2.jpg

Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman..cant go wrong, right? Here is a synopsis

Sweeney Todd

sweeneytodd.gif

This movie WILL be amazing(if you like gothic, gory musicals). Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are pretty bankable.

Synopsis
“Sweeney Todd a.k.a Benjamin Barker returns to London after being sent away by Judge Turpin with the help of a sailor, Anthony Hope. He opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett’s Meat Pie Shop were she sells “the worst pies in London.” With the help of Mrs. Lovett, Todd tries to rid of all the people who have ever done him wrong and hopes to be reunited with his daughter, Joanna, who is now Judge Turpin’s ward.”

Walk Hard..Best Judd Apatow movie ever?

walkhard2.jpg

I have been looking forward to this movie for quite a while now, and its finally coming out this weekend. If you havent heard of this movie, let me give you this.

“Fictional musician Dewey Cox skyrockets from humble beginnings and eventually gets caught up in the fame of rock and roll. Jenna Fischer plays his backup singer and second wife, Darlene. One of the pervasive themes of the movie is the fact that he accidentally cut his brother in half at the waist when he was a child.”

Sound familiar? I hope so, if not then this movie has lost all its bearings. Think of this as the Scary Movie of Biopics. This movie takes parts from Walk the Line, Ray, and The Doors. Many people are saying this is the best Judd Apatow movie ever..but it will have to be REALLY good to beat out my Fav’s in Anchorman and the 40 Year Old Virgin.

Here are a couple of links to clips of the movie.

Dewey Cox and the Beatles (As played by Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Justin Long, and Jason Schwartzman)

Right..

So, while surfing around finding news about upcoming movies I was inundated with advertisements. That got me to thinking “Hmm..if people are paying for ad’s on these sites, who is to say their reviews arent paid for?”. Maybe, just maybe they are getting paid by the studio’s to give a good review, or over hype a movie that is coming out. I know that sounds ridiculous..”why would a studio turn to a blog to hype a movie”, are you new to this whole internet thing? Come on.

So what we are going to do here is provide you a WE WONT BE BOUGHT FOR REVIEWS…well you can pay us for reviews, but it wont change our opinion of it.

I also want to revisit classic movies on a regular basis. Maybe there is an obscure movie from the 80’s that you missed out on..well we attempt to pump some life back into it.

For now we will be busy updating and getting the site ready, enjoy.

Review: ‘Superbad’

Zac:

The most recent Apatow produced comedy continues the run of pretty good comedies by the fore mentioned comedy mastermind. Superbad revolves around the story of two seniors Evan and Seth who find the opportunity to possibly get laid at the last big high school party they will ever get to go to. Outcasts of the high school party scene, Seth and Evan are still no strangers to the cruder aspects of being a high school guy, drinking, porn, and pining over girls are all everyday traits for these two, who are sometimes joined by Fogell (or to later be known as McLovin).
Seth and Evan both get in the good graces of a couple of girls when Fogell scores a fake ID, which is where he gets his name McLovin, and they offer to by the ladies alcohol for the big party. Seth is the hornier of the two and he is the mastermind of the plan and sets the ridiculously high expectations for the night’s events. As expected, nothing goes smoothly, and the three guys end up on an adventure of trying to get laid and participate in underage drinking.
Seth Rogen and Bill Hader show up as a couple of cops looking to feel young again and they cross paths with McLovin/Fogell while Seth and Evan get seriously detoured on their quest to the party; madness ensues.
Jonah Hill is great as Seth and plays the part great, he is a bit annoying sometimes with his ridiculousness, but that is the character not Hill, so it’s ok; not to mention he has some amazing rants through out the picture. Rogen and Hader are kind of up and down as the cops, but every time you are about to get tired of them, they redeem themselves. Christopher Mintz-Plasse is also good in his first movie as Fogell and like Hill, his character teaters on annoying occasionally, but he does an excellent job as the character. Michael Cera is the best thing about this movie, and pretty much anything he is in. I find him hilarious with his awkwardness and one liners and he is a great improviser as well; check him out in all the special features on the DVD for some great cut bits by him.
In the end, this is a very good raunchy comedy, with some hilarious bits, but I think it doesn’t rise to the level of Knocked Up and Juno but definitely worth checking out if your in the mood for a movie like this.
