On July 21, 2023, movie audiences will meet the live versions of Mattel’s Barbie and Ken, but today Warner Bros. Pictures released this first look of Ryan Gosling as Ken in the upcoming BARBIE movie. Actress Margot Robbie will play Barbie in director Greta Gerwig’s film.
Three-time Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird and Little Women) is directing from a script she co-wrote with her partner, Noah Baumbach, who is himself a three-time Oscar nominee (The Squid and the Whale and Marriage Story).
The cast also includes Kingsley Ben-Adir, Michael Cera, Scott Evans, Emerald Fennell, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Simu Liu, Emma Mackey, Kate McKinnon, Hari Nef, Issa Rae and Alexandra Shipp, some of whom are reportedly playing alternate Barbies and Kens, among other Malibu Dreamhouse residents.
Ken was introduced by Mattel in 1961 as the counterpart of Barbie, who was introduced two years earlier. Ken was invented by Elliot Handler.
For fans of Pixar, Ken appeared in the 2010 Pixar film Toy Story 3, voiced by Michael Keaton. He was one of the henchmen of the film’s villain Lotso.

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment announced that, for the first time, U.S. audiences will be able to experience two classic, culture-defining Steven Spielberg films—E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and Jaws—on IMAX® screens nationwide.
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be released exclusively on IMAX screens beginning August 12, to celebrate the film’s 40th Anniversary. Jaws will be released on IMAX screens and also in RealD 3D beginning September 2.

Netflix announced today the title of the sequel to KNIVES OUT – GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY.
In the follow up to Rian Johnson’s KNIVES OUT, Detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects. The cast includes Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline with Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista. Look for the movie this holiday season 2022.
The original movie grossed $165.4 million in the United States and Canada, and $146 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $311.4 million. Johnson received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay at the 92nd Academy Awards and it still sits at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
