Celebrate Roger Moore With a James Bond Double Feature May 31st & June 4th at AMC Theaters

In celebration of the life of Sir Roger Moore, and to benefit UNICEF, there will be a double feature screening of THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY at select AMC Theatres on May 31st at 6pm and June 4th at 2pm. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME  sports a labyrinthine story involving outer-space extortion. The leading lady is sexy Russian secret agent Barbara Bach, who joins forces with Bond to foil yet another megalomaniacal villain, who plans to threaten New York City with nuclear weaponry. Curt Jurgens stars as Stromberg, Richard Kiel costars as ‘Jaws’, and other Bond lovelies include Caroline Munro and Valerie Leon.


FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (1981)

Roger Moore was back as Secret Agent 007 in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, this time on the trail of shipwreck that holds an Automatic Targeting Attack Communicator (ATAC) for all of the British Naval submarine fleet. Along the way he teams up with the beautiful Melina, played by Carole Bouquet, a maiden out for revenge against a Cuban hitman who killed her father, the head of a British effort to salvage the ATAC. Turns out the hitman was in league with Greek businessman Aris Kristatos (Julian Glover). who’s working for the Soviets to attain the Communicator. Together with a drug smuggling rival of Kristatos (played by Topol), Bond and Melina race against time before the keys to all of Britain’s missiles get in the wrong hands. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY eschewed the gimmickry and campiness of earlier Roger Moore efforts by concentrating instead on intrigue, save for the over-the-top opening that sees Bond dispatch the dastardly Blofeld in a broad comedic pre-credits scene.

BITTER HARVEST Starring Max Irons and Terence Stamp Arriving on DVD June 13th

Over the course of their service, Megan and Rex completed more than 100 missions until an IED explosion injures them, putting their fate in jeopardy. The 22nd Annual ST. LOUIS JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL Begins June 4th

The St. Louis Jewish Film Festival, held annually at the Landmark Plaza Frontenac Cinema (1701 S Lindbergh Blvd #210, St Louis, MO 63131), is one of the local Jewish community’s most popular and highly attended events of the year.  Each year, the festival presents international Jewish films, both documentaries and features that explore universal issues through traditional Jewish values, opposing viewpoints and new perspectives. And each year, the fest packs ‘em in so get there early – it’s first come first serve for seats and those Frontenac theaters aren’t very big. Attendance is always through the roof for this thing, a testament to the group’s marketing and choice of programming. Guest lecturers are brought to the fest to discuss and illuminate the subjects of these films.

The 22nd Annual St. Louis Jewish Film Festival opens with two exciting films on Sunday, June 4th at the Landmark Plaza Frontenac Cinema. The first, On the Map (4pm) After beating a dynamic Soviet basketball team, Israeli team captain, Tal Brody, exclaimed in American-accented Hebrew, “We are on the Map, we are staying on the Map, not only in sports, but in everything.” That phrase and the Maccabi Tel Aviv team, a combination of NBA also-rans and Israeli players, rallied a nation in its David-and-Goliath pursuit of the 1977 European Championship. It is the pulse-pounding action of a high-stakes game combined with an incendiary political situation.

The 7pm screening of Fanny’s Journey A Suspenseful, compelling, moving film set in 1943. Here is the true story of exceptional bravery and survival against overwhelming odds. As war is raging in Europe, 13-year-old Fanny and her two younger sisters are sent by their parents to a foster home for Jewish children in the French countryside. As the Germans advance, Fanny unexpectedly finds herself in charge of a group of 11 young children. Now she must do the impossible and lead her little group to the Swiss border in order to save all their lives.
The St. Louis Jewish Film Festival continues through Thursday, June 8 with its celebration of Jewish life through 18 documentary and feature films. While all films depict a slice of the Jewish experience, the films are universal and meant to be appealing to all, regardless of faith.
Historical figures ( Ben Gurion, Epilogue), ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, a child heroine ( Fanny’s Journey), musicians ( Bang- The Bert Berns Story , Joe’s, Violin, an Oscar nominated film and Maestro , Films are brought to life in comedy( The Pickle Recipe), dramas
(Past Life and The Women’s Balcony), mysteries ( A Grain of Truth) and documentaries ( Monkey Business about the creators of Curious George). Features originate from Belgium, France, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Germany, Poland, and the United States.

All films will screen at the Landmark Plaza Frontenac Cinema (Lindbergh & Clayton Road). Ticket prices vary. An Opening Day feature ticket costs $15 each or purchase the double feature for $25.

Sometimes things are not always what they seem, especially in the small suburban town where the Carpenter family lives. Protector to his adoring younger brother and tireless supporter of his often self-doubting mother – and, through investments, of the family as a whole – Henry blazes through the days like a comet.

Susan discovers that the family next door, which includes Henry’s kind classmate Christina (Maddie Ziegler), has a dangerous secret – and that Henry has devised a surprising plan to help. As his brainstormed rescue plan for Christina takes shape in thrilling ways, Susan finds herself at the center of it.

THE BOOK OF HENRY is directed by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World, Safety Not Guaranteed) from an original screenplay by acclaimed novelist Gregg Hurwitz (Orphan X).

The Naked Magicians, the world’s naughtiest and funniest magic show strips away the top hats and capes to promise full-frontal illusions when the show appears at the Grandel Theatre on June 12. The show is packing theaters around the world including Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, UK with an extended run on London’s West End.

Starring the clever and seductive Mike Tyler and Christopher Wayne, two of Australia’s most famous magicians, The Naked Magicians combine magic and muscles with riotous laughs that take magic to a whole new level. “Good magicians don’t need sleeves and great magicians don’t need pants,” says Tyler.

The Aussie duo have been performing magic for nearly 20 years. The Minions, Gru, along with his long-lost twin brother, Dru, are back in this delightfully funny new preview for the upcoming film.

Illumination, who brought audiences Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, continues the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes—and the Minions in Despicable Me 3.  Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, co-directed by Eric Guillon and written by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio, the animated film is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and executive produced by Chris Renaud.

Joining Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig in DESPICABLE ME 3 is Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker, co-creator of Comedy Central’s global phenomenon South Park and the Broadway smash The Book of Mormon.

Sony Pictures has released a lively new trailer for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING.
