84th Academy Awards Pre-Show Team Comes Together For “Oscars Red Carpet Live”

Robin Roberts, Tim Gunn, Louise Roe, Jess Cagle and Nina Garcia will host “Oscars Red Carpet Live” for the 84th Academy Awards®, pre-show executive producers Charlie Haykel and Juliane Hare announced today. In the hour immediately preceding the ceremony, “Oscars Red Carpet Live” will be the only broadcast from the red carpet.

This will be Roe and Garcia’s first time hosting the Oscars red carpet show and the third stints for Roberts, Gunn and Cagle. “We couldn’t be more excited to be working with this red carpet team,” said Haykel and Hare. “Each brings something unique and different that will contribute to the show’s overall dynamic and creative direction.”

Roberts is co-anchor of ABC’s “Good Morning America” and has traveled the globe extensively, covering breaking news events and conducting countless headline-making interviews. Prior to joining “Good Morning America,” she was a commentator and contributor to ESPN, where she hosted “Sports Center” and covered the LPGA, NCAA women’s basketball and the WNBA. The news anchor and journalist will be conducting interviews with celebrities from the main pre-show stage on Oscar Night®.

Gunn is chief creative officer at Liz Claiborne Inc. and currently stars in the ABC Network’s new daytime talk show “The Revolution.” He is the author of the New York Times bestselling Gunn’s Golden Rules and is well known for his participation on the Emmy®-nominated program “Project Runway.” Gunn will interview celebrities and share red carpet fashion commentary with fellow “Runway” castmate Garcia.

Garcia, who is also well known for her role on “Project Runway,” is the fashion director for Marie Claire. Prior to her work at Marie Claire, Garcia was fashion director at Elle. She is also the author of four books on style: The Little Black Book of Style, The One Hundred, The Style Strategy and Nina Garcia’s Look Book.

Roe is the fashion editor-at-large for Glamour and hosts her own makeover show, “Plain Jane,” on MTV International. She hosted E!’s live coverage of the Royal Wedding in 2011 and has hosted red carpet shows for the Video Music Awards and European Music Awards. Roe will interview celebrity guests as they arrive on the red carpet for the evening’s festivities.

Cagle is editor of Entertainment Weekly. In his 25-year career covering Hollywood for People, Time and EW, he has interviewed some of the world’s most famous celebrities, including Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor. He is also a frequent commentator on television and has appeared on “Good Morning America,” “Today,” “20/20,” E! and CNN. On Oscar Sunday, he will be stationed backstage where he will conduct exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews as the 84th Academy Awards unfolds.

Oscar telecast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer also serve as executive producers for “Oscars Red Carpet Live,” which will air on the ABC Television Network at 4 p.m. PT/ 7 p.m. ET.

Emma Stone To Make First Oscar Show Appearance

Emma Stone will present at the 84th Academy Awards® ceremony, telecast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer announced today. It will be her first time presenting on the show.

Stone appears in the Best Picture nominee “The Help.” Her other film credits include “Crazy, Stupid, Love.,” “Friends with Benefits,” “Easy A” and “Superbad.” She will be seen next in “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “Gangster Squad.”

Cinema St Louis Among Charities Nationwide To Host Oscar Night® America 2012

On Sunday, February 26, charities in 49 cities will host official Oscar® viewing parties during the 84th Academy Awards® ceremony as part of Oscar Night America (ONA), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ grassroots outreach program.

The Academy sanctions charities across the country to host celebratory viewing parties on Oscar Night with proceeds directly benefiting the charities. All parties will feature the live broadcast of the Awards presentation; many will integrate Hollywood-style party elements, including red carpet arrivals, local celebrities, “paparazzi” photographers, predict-the-winner contests and live entertainment.

To set these parties apart from the thousands of other events taking place on Oscar Night, each ONA party receives from the Academy copies of the official commemorative poster and the official Oscar show program among other items. Only one charity party in a given media market may participate in ONA. Events are entirely produced by local nonprofit organizations, with the active participation of the local ABC-TV affiliate station.

Last year 51 charities hosted viewing parties for the 83rd Academy Awards with 17,332 guests in attendance nationwide. More than $3.5 million was raised, all of it remaining in local communities. Since its inception in 1994, the program has generated nearly $33.5 million in funding for a wide spectrum of charitable organizations – every cent staying within the community where it was raised. For the 19th consecutive year, Concept Marketing Development of Santa Barbara, California, will assist the Academy in coordinating the program.

Angelina Jolie to Present at 84th Academy Awards® on Oscar® Sunday, February 26

Academy Award®-winning actress Angelina Jolie will present at the 84th Academy Awards ceremony, telecast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer announced today.

In 1999 Jolie took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Girl, Interrupted,” and she received a nomination in 2008 for her lead performance in “Changeling.” Jolie recently made her writing and directing debut with the film “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” She will be seen next in “Maleficent.” Jolie’s other film credits include “Kung Fu Panda 2,” “The Tourist,” “Salt,” “Wanted,” “A Mighty Heart,” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Taking Lives” and “The Bone Collector.”

84th Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon

Here’s a glimpse inside the Oscar Nominees Luncheon for the 84th Academy Awards which took place in Beverly Hills, California, Monday, February 6, 2012. The 84th Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. On the menu was chopped vegetable salad, roasted Asian barbecued duck, soy-mirin seared Atlantic Salmon and a trio of sorbets in a chocolate cup.

Anne Thompson reported, “Oscarcast co-producer Brian Grazer promised a classy show. Filming of the Billy Crystal intro skit is under way (along with interviews with many of the nominees) — “everyone is in the film,” he said. The Kodak Theatre stage will be dressed like an old-time movie palace to sell the theme of going out to the movies. “Seeing films in that environment is a magnifier of how you feel emotionally,” he said. “You’ll feel like you’re in a movie theater.”

Oscar Nominees To Be Honored At Awards Luncheon

Eighteen of the 20 nominees in the acting categories will be among more than 150 Oscar nominees who will gather at noon on Monday, February 6, at the Beverly Hilton when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honors this year’s Oscar contenders at its annual Nominees Luncheon. Additional confirmations are expected to come in over the weekend.

From the Best Actress and Actor categories all the nominees – Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Rooney Mara, Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams, Demián Bichir, George Clooney, Jean Dujardin, Gary Oldman and Brad Pitt – are expected to attend. Kenneth Branagh, Jonah Hill, Nick Nolte, Max von Sydow, Bérénice Bejo, Melissa McCarthy, Janet McTeer and Octavia Spencer will represent the Supporting Actor and Actress categories.

Three of the five nominees in the Directing category – Michel Hazanavicius, Alexander Payne and Martin Scorsese – also are expected to attend.

Tom Cruise & Halle Berry To Present At 84th Academy Awards On Oscar Sunday, February 26

Three-time Academy Award®-nominated actor Tom Cruise and Academy Award®-winning actress Halle Berry will present at the 84th Academy Awards® ceremony, telecast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer have announced.

Cruise was nominated for his lead performances in “Born on the Fourth of July” and “Jerry Maguire.”  He also was nominated for his supporting role in “Magnolia.” Cruise was recently seen in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and will be seen next in “Rock of Ages.” His other film credits include “Tropic Thunder,” “War of the Worlds,” “Collateral,” “Minority Report,” “A Few Good Men,” “Rain Man,” “The Color of Money” and “Top Gun.”

Berry won an Oscar® in 2001 for her lead performance in “Monster’s Ball.” She was recently seen in “New Year’s Eve” and will be seen next opposite Tom Hanks and Hugh Grant in “Cloud Atlas.” Berry’s other film credits include “Frankie & Alice,” “Things We Lost in the Fire,” “Die Another Day,” “Swordfish,” and the first three “X-Men” films.

Final Oscar Ballots Mailed to Academy Members

Final ballots for the 84th Academy Awards® were mailed today (February 1) to the 5,783 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Completed ballots must be returned to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) by 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 21.  Ballots received after the deadline will not be counted.

Listed on the ballots are nominees in 19 Awards categories. Separate ballots for five categories (Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Foreign Language Film, Animated Short Film and Live Action Short Film) will be distributed after verification of mandatory member attendance at screenings.

Following the tabulation of the votes, the winners’ names will be placed in sealed envelopes to be opened on Oscar Sunday, February 26.

Tom Hanks To Present At 84th Academy Awards

Two-time Academy Award®-winning actor Tom Hanks will present at the 84th Academy Awards ceremony, telecast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer announced today.

Hanks, who is a governor of the Academy, won consecutive Oscars® in 1993 and 1994 for his lead performances in “Philadelphia” and “Forrest Gump.”  He was also nominated for his leading roles in “Big,” “Saving Private Ryan” and “Cast Away.”  Hanks can currently be seen in the Best Picture-nominated “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.”  His other film credits include “Larry Crowne,” “Toy Story 3,” “Charlie Wilson’s War,” “The Da Vinci Code,” “The Terminal,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “Road to Perdition,” “Apollo 13” and “A League of Their Own.”
