‘Halloween’ Remake, 3-Disc special edition out tomorrow…

Double dipping special edition DVD’s always excites me, especially when its from a director I am really into like one Rob Zombie. They USUALLY put some intense new special features on the extra disk(s) and lets you relive the movie again.

Well tomorrow they are releasing a 3 disk special edition version of Zombie’s remake of ‘Halloween’, and although the 2 disks have already been done, the 3rd disk contains a 4 1/2 hour documentary about the making of the movie..

Yes, you read that correct, 4 1/2 hours! Holy shit man, the ’30 days of hell’ doc that came with ‘The Devils Rejects’ was awesome, I cant imagine what we will see with 4 1/2 hours. Needless to say, I am a pretty stoked Zombie fanboy right now.

The only real bummer is that none of the big stores are running specials on it, nor is it really being advertised anywhere, luckily BestBuy.com has it listed at 19.99, so the price seems to be pretty decent. Here are the disk details from amazon.

Disc One: Feature Commentary By Writer/Director Rob Zombie. Disc Two: Alternate Ending, Deleted Scenes With Optional Director’s Commentary, Bloopers, The Many Masks Of Michael Myers, Re-Imagining Halloween, Meet The Cast, Casting Sessions and More. Disc Three: 4 1/2 hour documentary Michael Lives: The Making of Halloween

I will be at best buy picking up my copy tomorrow, make sure you do the same!

Super Bad-Ass Geek Stuff: ‘Iron Man’ Special Edition Steelbook

So, if you are lucky they might still have a few copies, but don’t count on it!

‘Punisher: Warzone’ gets an ‘R’ rating…

That’s right boys and girls, despite rumored to get a PG-13 rating, ‘Punisher: Warzone’ officially snagged an ‘R’ rating by the MPAA for pervasive strong brutal violence, language and some drug use.

Here is a screenshot for you people that like to see it for yourself, and the link.

MGM has released a ‘Valkyrie’ featurette…

Apparently MGM has been doing some research on the Internet(s) and has heard what we have all been saying. They decided to release a 3 minute featurette on the movie which you can watch below.

I still have a problem with the lack of accents in a WWII movie, especially when the main character is a famed German commander played by one Tom Cruise. I can understand if he just gave a really horrible accent, but honestly if he couldn’t pull it off, they should have gone and found someone else that could pull it off. WWII is a subject that people are very particular about and the lack of accents is going to bug ALOT of people. We will see, maybe its just me.

Live Action/CGI Version of… ‘YOGI BEAR’!

Yes! I loved this show as a kid, and I am super stoked to find out about this project being in the works. Thanks to THR we can give you this:

The studio is developing a feature version of “Yogi Bear,” the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon, and “Surf’s Up” co-helmer/co-writer Ash Brannon is attached to direct.

Endeavor-repped Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia, who exec produced “That ’70s Show” and are writing the feature “Tooth Fairy” for Fox, are penning the screenplay. Donald De Line is producing via his De Line Pictures; Karen Rosenfelt is also producing, with Jon Berg overseeing for Warners.

The project, culled from Warners’ vast library, is planned as a live-action/animated hybrid along the lines of Fox’s 2007 hit “Alvin & the Chipmunks.” Much of the movie will be live-action, but Yogi Bear and sidekick Boo Boo will be done in CG.

So the younger generation will get exposed to this, just like they have recently been exposed to ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’, and ‘TMNT’. This will be badass!

WAMG Contest: ‘Body of Lies’

We are bringing you a sweet contest for the new Ridley Scott movie ‘Body of Lies’. For those of you that don’t know, here is the synopsis for ‘Body of Lies’:

“Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the best man U.S. Intelligence has on the ground, in places where human life is worth no more than the information it can get you. In operations that take him around the globe, Ferris’ next breath often depends on the voice at the other end of a secure phone line–CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe). Strategizing from a laptop in the suburbs, Hoffman is on the trail of an emerging terrorist leader who has orchestrated a campaign of bombings while eluding the most sophisticated intelligence network in the world. To lure the terrorist out into the open, Ferris will have to penetrate his murky world, but the closer Ferris gets to the target, the more he discovers that trust is both a dangerous commodity and the only one that will get him out alive.”

We are going to choose winners at random, and all you have to do to enter is the following:

Jerry at the Netflix Movie Watching World Championship…

Our favorite indie film maker Jerry is one of the contestants trying to beat the world record in the Netflix Movie Watching comp that starts tomorrow, and runs through Tuesday. We are giving him a huge forum to sound off on..so below is his first blog, and future blogs to come…

Hey Movie Geeks,

My name is Jerry Cavallaro and I am a Movie Geek. If anyone wants some proof, I am competing in the Netflix Movie Watching World Championship tomorrow. If you don’t remember, this site reported on it about 2 weeks ago. I, along with 7 other people, will be locked in a glass cube set up in Times Square where we will pretty much do nothing except watch movies for 5+ days. My strategy for all of this? Tonight I am going to sleep as much as I can. Also, I am going to do anything to stay awake including energy drinks, protein bars, and running in my seat like Lloyd Christmas.

I found out about this contest just two weeks ago. I entered a video on their Facebook page and then on Wednesday they announced Matt Raub’s video as the winning entry. Then on Friday afternoon they notified me, while I was at work. Not much work got done after that. Just to be clear, Matt Raub is still in the competition, but I am now the final entrant. I’m not sure why they didn’t announce us together but I don’t really care. I’m just thrilled to be a part of this.

In fact, in about an hour I am leaving to go to the city to meet with the people from Netflix and meet the people I will be living with for a few days.. All of the little details will be discussed tonight but so far I am told that there are 2 porta-potties for 8 people. That scares the Sh*t out of me, which makes me even more nervous about the bathroom situation. I don’t really know all the details but I am really looking forward to this.. We have no idea what movies are being shown but hopefully they will screen at least a few of my suggestions. I also asked them to screen my film, Stuck Like Chuck, but I don’t think they are willing to do so. It would be very appropriate though since it is a comedy that’s mainly about 2 people stuck in a classroom. If you want to know more about it or see some trailers, check out www.AreYouStuckLikeChuck.com. The two newest videos are my interviews with Lloyd Kaufman and Kevin Smith.

If you live in New York or are visiting this week, try to stop by. I’ll be the one wearing the Stuck Like Chuck shirt. I’ll be sure to check back next week with an update on my experiences in the glass theater. Keep watching movies!

WAMG First Look: ‘Stuck Like Chuck’

Our good friend Jerry Cavallaro is going to be one of the contestants in the Netflix Movie Watching Competition. For those of you not in the know, Jerry has a movie ‘Stuck Like Chuck’ that he has been working on, and let me say thats pretty impressive for a 20 year old indie filmmaker. Here is the info for the film..

“Stuck Like Chuck is a feature length comedy film written, directed, edited and produced by student filmmaker, Jerry Cavallaro. The film is a dialogue heavy romantic comedy about two college students who find themselves in the awkward situation of having to spend the night together. Charlie, the aforementioned Chuck, is a loveable loser who can’t find a way to work up the courage to ask the girl of his dreams out. After some scheming with Rob, his slacker roommate, Charlie and Juliet find themselves locked in their Film-201 class. The film was made for under $4,000 and features some special guest cameos, as well as some of the finest unknown actors in New York. “

This movie sounds like its going to be pretty badass, ala ‘Clerks’. Visit the official site http://areyoustucklikechuck.com
