HBO Might Have a Winner with ‘Bored to Death’

schwartzmanboredtodeath

The show will star Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis who are both incredibly funny, if you throw in Ted Danson you might have a real winner here. This is the premise for the show which starts in September:

The Jonathan Ames-penned “Bored” centers on Jonathan (Schwartzman), a struggling thirtysomething writer with a drinking problem in Brooklyn who, following a painful breakup with his girlfriend, decides to emulate his heroes from the novels of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett.

Watch the teaser below and tell me what you guys think..this sounds like a winner to me but I love everything Schwartzman touches.

Man Sent to Jail for Pirating ‘The Love Guru’

lovegurujail

A man named Jack Yates has been sentenced to 6 months in prison for pirating ‘The Love Guru’. How bad is this guy going to “get it” in prison? Hopefully most of the prisoners have been in so long so they haven’t had a chance to see what a shitter this movie was. Check this out:

When confronted, Yates accused co-workers and Paramount employees of putting the contraband copy on the Internet. But videotaped footage showed Yates making the unauthorized copy of “The Love Guru” at work before leaving the building and then going into his car, Assistant U.S. Attorney Erik M. Silber said. Yates subsequently blamed his grandmother, saying that he showed the movie at her birthday party and she then gave it away to a cousin who gave it to a friend who was the former roommate of the man who is believed to have uploaded the movie, but has not yet been charged. In his plea agreement, Yates confessed to making a copy of the comedy and later distributing it to others.

We don’t condone pirating around here, however if you ARE going to pirate movies, do it for films that would be worth getting busted over! You are going to need all the respect you can get in prison and if you go down for pirating ‘From Justin to Kelly’ then consider yourself already someone’s… umm… personal “ass”istant.

I guess it could be worse, he could have been busted for pirating gay porn…now that I think about it I don’t think even that is worse. Good luck Jack Yates!

Thanks to WSJ via Gizmodo for the heads up.

DVD Giveaway: ‘Van Wilder: Freshmen Year’

dvdgiveawaysvanwilderfreshmenyear

I first heard about them doing a direct to DVD prequel to ‘Van Wilder’ my initial thought wasnt anything positive. Then I watched the trailer and it doenst look half band and on top of that I am being told its “legendary”. So what the hell? We are going to give away a couple of copies to our faithful readers if you can leave me a comment below telling us a crazy college story, maybe even from your “Freshmen Year”.

The long-awaited story of the legendary party animal’s uproarious introduction to Coolidge College is finally here, revealing for the first time his rise to become the man, the myth…the seven-year college senior. Van Wilder: Freshman Year features a red-hot, young cast including Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls) as “Van the Man” and Kristin Cavallari (Laguna Beach), as well as Steve Talley (American Pie Presents Beta House), Kurt Fuller (Wayne’s World) and Linden Ashby (Resident Evil: Extinction) as Van’s partners in mayhem.

Van Wilder: Freshman Year is produced by Robert Levy, Peter Abrams, and Andrew Panay (Wedding Crashers, National Lampoon’s Van Wilder), directed by Harv Glazer (Kickin’ it Old School), written by Todd McCullough, and executive produced by Pure Pictures’ Darin Spillman and Sam Bernard.

I haven’t seen this yet so I cant tell you that its a great film, but it should be pretty fun from the looks of the trailer. What are you waiting for? Get to commenting!

The DVD hits stores on July 14th 2009, but you might as well enter our contest first!

Two New Photos from ‘Clash of the Titans’

COTT-01659

We just got 2 new photos of Sam Worthington who is Perseus in ‘Clash of the Titans’ remake. For those of you not in the know check this out:

“Clash of the Titans” is being directed by Louis Leterrier (“The Incredible Hulk”). Leading the international cast is Australian actor Sam Worthington (“Terminator Salvation,” the upcoming “Avatar”) as Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus, king of the gods. Academy Award ® nominee Liam Neeson (“Taken,” “Schindler’s List”) takes on the role of the mighty Zeus, and Academy Award ® nominee Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films, “The English Patient”) plays the role of Hades, god of the underworld, who feeds on human fear. Rounding out the cast is Gemma Arterton (“Quantum of Solace”) as Io, Perseus’ mysterious spiritual guide throughout his journey; Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”) as Draco, who takes up his sword to join Perseus’ quest; Jason Flemyng (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) as Acrisius, a one-time king turned hideous beast; and Alexa Davalos (“Defiance”) as Andromeda, a princess doomed to lose her life if Perseus does not succeed.

Kristen Stewart preparing for ‘The Runaways’

kristenstewartjoanjet

How much better could Joaquin Phoenix have played Johnny Cash if had actually gotten to hang out with him before his death? Well Kristen Stewart is doing just that, she is preparing for her role as Joan Jett by hanging out with… Joan Jett!

I think its pretty badass that she would actually go to the source to prepare for the role, it speaks volumes of the ‘Twilight’/’Adventureland’ star in my opinion. Not only is she hanging out with Joan Jett, but she has also apparently altered her hairstyle to match that of Jett’s when The Runaways were at the height of their success.

Thanks to Celebuzz for the photo.

I Heart Geeks: ‘Hellboy’ XBOX 360 Case Mod

iheartgeekshellboy2casemod

We love geeks especially the over the top geeks that go out of their way to show love for their favorite stuff.

Frank Gonzales loves ‘Hellboy’ so much that he moded his 360 to resemble the right hand of doom. This case mod is pretty epic and you can definitely see this took a lot of freaking work, but the end result is spectacular. Check out the photos below:

Humpday Horribleness: ‘Chairman of the Board’

humpdayhorriblenesschairman

Title: ‘Chairman of the Board’

Release Date: March 13th, 1998

Ranking on Bottom 100 (as of 6/17/2009): 100 (based on 2,762 votes)

Why It’s Here: Well Scott “Carrot Top” Thompson was at the height of his comedy career and they thought it would transfer pretty well to a feature full length movie… it didn’t. He plays Edison(seriously?) in the film, a surfer/inventor who gets to become “chairman” of a company when the previous owner kicks the bucket. The film features perpetual jackass Larry Miller as the jackass nephew who tries to ruin Edison so he loses all his shares and he will then get the company.

The film was directed/written by Alex Zamm who also owns these movies to his credit: ‘Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts’, and ‘Inspector Gadget 2’. Needless to say he is somehow still making horrible movies sort of along the lines of Uwe Boll.

The film had a budget of $10,000,000 but only made $306,710 which makes it one of the biggest box office bombs ever. Also, Michael J. Nelson from MST3k named this the 5th worst comedy of all time!

The title is bad enough, they tried to do a pun off the fact that he is a surfer that becomes the head of a company but check out the trailer for yet more explanation as to why the movie is on the list:

Lowest of the Low Moments: Its difficult to find one part of the movie to single out as the worst but I would definitely have to go with Carrot Top making out with Courtney Thorne-Smith, thats a freaking travesty! I had a monster crush on Courtney Throne-Smith because of Ally McBeal and ‘Summer School’ and it saddened my heart to see her making out with Mr Top himself.

Will it Ever Get Off the List: Actually, despite how bad it is, its currently sitting pretty at #100, which means as soon as another “Movie” movie comes out this will probably fall off and Carrot Top can then finally make his climb back to the top. Well maybe that last part isn’t completely true, but we all love Carrot Top!
