– New York, NY – 4/16/11 – CELEBS HIT THE SAVANNA Ã Actress Keri Russell joined directors Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey, among others,Saturday, April 16, in New York City for a special screening of Disneynature’s newest big-screen adventure “African Cats.” Narrated by Oscar-nominated actor Samuel L. Jackson, “African Cats” features the real-life love, humor and determination of Mara, an endearing lion cub who strives to grow up with her mother’s strength, spirit and wisdom – Sita, a fearless cheetah and single mother of five mischievous newborns, and Fang, a proud leader of the pride who must defend his family from a rival lion. The film leaps into theaters this Friday, April 22 – Earth Day 2011, through “See ‘African Cats,’ Save the Savanna,” Disneynature will donate a portion of the proceeds from the film’s nationwide opening-week ticket sales – April 22-28, to the African Wildlife Foundation to help animals in the African savanna.
