Box Office Report Mar. 6-8: Who Watches The Watchmen… EVERYONE!

Watchmen was as predicted the number one film at the box office over the weekend bringing in $55 million dollars. Watchmen also had the sixth highest opening for an R rated movie behind ‘the Matrix Reloaded, Passion of the Christ, Hannibal, Sex and the City and 300. Previous chart topper ‘Madea Goes To Jail’ finished a distant second with $8.5 million. Here is how the rest of the top ten finished:

We will see if the Watchmen have the satying power to retain the number one spot for a second week. The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson may have something to say about it when his new Disney family film ‘Race to Witch Mountain’ opens next week. There may also be a small rumble from the sex romp ‘Miss March’ , but I expect a repeat from ‘The Watchmen’!
