Only if we care can all be saved.

In our interview with screenwriters of RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, now producers, Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, about the use of real chimpanzees in the 2011 movie, Silver said, “it’s all about animal rights. Man’s hubris for testing on animals – they’re sentient beings! So using real animals goes against our theme.”

The two are now co-producers alongside Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark of WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES.

20th Century Fox has just released “Compassion” – a special video created in conjunction with the Jane Goodall Institute.

In honor of the upcoming release of WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, 20th Century Fox has partnered with the Jane Goodall Institute to provide care for rescued chimpanzees, many of whom are victims of the illegal commercial bushmeat and pet trades.

Goodall first discovered in 1960 that chimpanzees make and use tools and redefined the relationship between humans and animals. In 1977, Dr. Goodall established the Jane Goodall Institute to advance her work around the world in conservation, and the role people play in the well-being on animals and the environment. She continues to travel the world with her message of how both humans and animals are all interconnected.

Caesar (Andy Serkis) and Cornelius (Devyn Dalton) anticipate the journey ahead in Twentieth Century Fox’s WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES.

Housed and cared for on three forested island sanctuary sites and a mainland sanctuary site at the Institute’s Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in Republic of Congo, nearly 150 chimpanzees will benefit from this partnership.

Housing on Tchindzoulou Island for rehabilitated chimps will be named “Caesar’s Home”, after the movie’s simian hero.
