THE LEGO MOVIE was all kinds of awesome as it banked an enormous $87.2 million worldwide haul at the box office, with $18.1 million coming from 34 international territories. Domestically, the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO adventure took in $69.1 million for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (“21 Jump Street,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”), the original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world.  He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared. THE LEGO MOVIE features the voices of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Charlie Day, with Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman.

Even with the first few days of the Sochi Winter Olympics and cold weather, many still went to the theaters. Disney’s mega-hit FROZEN is well on it’s way to the $1 billion mark globally with $913.8 million through the February 9th weekend.
