Terrence Malick’s TO THE WONDER Trailer

By  |

Winner of the SIGNIS Award at the 2012 Venice Film Festival, here’s the first trailer for Terrence Malick’s TO THE WONDER. While it also screened in September at the Toronto International Film Festival, Todd McCarthy said in his VFF review that the director’s latest, “will, as they used to say, separate the men from the boys when it comes to die-hard allegiance to all things Terrence Malick.” Along with the mesmerizing voice over by Javier Bardem, I’m intigued by what Malick has in store for us with this follow-up to one of my favorite films of 2011, TREE OF LIFE. I’m definitely in.

After visiting Mont Saint-Michel — once known in France as the Wonder — at the height of their love, Marina (Olga Kurylenko) and Neil (Ben Affleck) come to Oklahoma, where problems soon arise. Marina makes the acquaintance of a priest and fellow exile (Javier Bardem), who is struggling with his vocation, while Neil renews his ties with a childhood friend, Jane (Rachel McAdams). An exploration of love in its many forms.

Written and directed by Malick, the cast includes Ben Affleck (Argo, The Town, State Of Play), Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes, The Notebook), Academy Award® Winner Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener, The Lovely Bones), Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), Barry Pepper (The Green Mile, Seven Pounds) and Academy Award® Winner Javier Bardem (Skyfall, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, No Country for Old Men). One-of-a-kind filmmaker Terrence Malick has created some of the most moving and visually arresting films of the last four decades including: Tree of Life, Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line and The New World.

A Magnolia Pictures Release, the film will be in theaters April 2013.

Huge passion for film scores, lives for the Academy Awards, loves movie trailers. That is all.
