It seems like ages since ‘Watchmen’ hit theaters and utterly amazed the fans, even if it feel short of the box office it deserved. With movie geeks the world over eagerly awaiting the film’s release on DVD and Blu-Ray, Zack Snyder is feeling extra generous. ‘Watchmen’ will be revealing it’s uncut glory for a limited time… theatrically!

Warner Bros. will release a very limited theatrical run of the director’s cut of ‘Watchmen’ for one week leading up to Comic Con in San Diego, complete with 25 minutes of additional movie, including the death of a supporting character. Now, when I saw very limited, I do mean VERY limited! The film will screen in Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis and Dallas… that’s it! I can hear plans of road trips being devised in movie geek’s minds already.

The one week run will culminate in a special screening on July 25 at Comic Con and has an added perk. Check this out…

[The Comic Con screening] … is designed to act as a BD-Live event, a Blu-ray feature that will allow any viewer in North America to watch the movie simultaneously as the audience at Comic-Con, see and hear Snyder comment on the movie, and even ask questions. The screening will then be archived and will be able to be accessed for future viewings.

‘Watchmen’ on DVD and Blu-Ray hits store shelves on July 21, 2009.
