WAMG First Look at ‘Wanted’

James McAvoy (Atonement)  stars in Wanted as  Wesley, a nobody slacker who doesn’t amount to a hill of beans, until his father is murdered and he is contacted by Fox, played by Angelina Jolie. Fox is an extremely talented and dangerous assassin working for an international agency of spies and assassins who claim to be working for the cause of justice. Fox recruits Wesley and trains him to become one of them.

Wantedis directed by Timur Bekmambetov, which is a mouthful but also happens to be really good news. Already from the trailer, the action and style of the film look really awesome. Timur B [to make things easier] directed the international hits Night Watch and Day Watch, which are the first two installments of the Russian horror trilogy, with Twilight Watch,  the third installment, due out sometime in 2009. You may not have heard of these movies, mainly because the US is about the only country they haven’t received wide-spread play. It’s my opinion that Timur B has one of the freshest styles in cinema and we should keep an eye out for what he’ll have to offer in coming years. As for Wanted, which is actually based on a comic book (imagine that), it also stars veteran actors Morgan Freeman and Terrence Stamp. Wanted has been given a release date set for June 27, 2008.
