Throughout photography, fans will have unrivaled access to the production, including a wealth of behind-the-scenes photos, interaction with cast and crew, and on-set updates via social media. “One of the ways Rick Yancey made The 5th Wave so special is that it feels like it’s happening right now – and the characters react as teenagers today would react,” said Dwight Caines, president, Theatrical Marketing for Sony Pictures. “To stay faithful to that, we are making sure fans are on the inside from Day One.”
Blakeson’s production team includes Enrique Chediak as the Director of Photography, Jon Billington as the Production Designer, Paul Rubell as the Editor, and Sharen Davis as the Costume Designer.
The 5th Wave is a phenomenon in young adult literature, with 21 weeks on The New York Times Best Sellers list, nearly 300,000 hardcover units sold, and 80,000 e-books sold. Simon & Schuster Audio, in association with The Weinstein Company, has announced the August 2013 publication of THE BUTLER: A Witness to History. This audiobook companion to the major motion picture is read by the stars who play the family at the center of the film: the title character, his wife, and his son– Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and David Oyelowo.
Commented director Lee Daniels: “The story THE BUTLER tells is one not only of epic historical significance, but a universal one about the importance of family. To have it come to life on screen and with this audiobook, through the tremendous talents of Forest, Oprah, and David, is a dream come true.”
Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker narrates the story of Eugene Allen, a butler who served no less than seven presidents, from Harry Truman to Ronald Reagan. Allen was witness to history during his years at the White House, serving tea and supervising buffets as influential decisions about the moon landing, Vietnam War, Civil Rights legislation, and more took place around him.
THE BUTLER audiobook also includes author Wil Haygood’s exploration of the history of black images on celluloid and in Hollywood, read by Oprah Winfrey and David Oyelowo.
Lee Daniels, the Academy Award nominated director of PRECIOUS, reads the forward he penned.
37 INK, a new imprint of Atria Books, will publish hardcover and ebook editions of THE BUTLER on Tuesday, July 30.
The film, which opens on August 16, is set against the tumultuous political backdrop of 20th century America.
The historical epic Lee Daniels’ THE BUTLER tells the story of fictional White House butler Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker), who serves during seven presidential administrations between 1957 and 1986. Inspired by Wil Haygood’s 2008 Washington Post article “A Butler Well Served by This Election” about the real life of former butler Eugene Allen, the film begins in 1926 with a young Cecil living in the fiercely segregated South and facing the tyranny of the region’s prejudices. After years spent working in a hotel, Cecil is discovered by a White House employee, which leads to the opportunity of a lifetime: a job as a server at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. There, Cecil becomes a firsthand witness to history and the inner workings of the Oval Office as the civil rights movement unfolds.
At the same time, he and his volatile but loving wife (Oprah Winfrey) must grapple with the rebellious spirit of their son Louis (David Oyelowo) whose tenacious hunger for activism and equal rights often puts him in dangerous situations – and at perpetual odds with his father. While Cecil remains fiercely committed to his duties at the White House and to providing for his family, his determination leads to increasing tensions between him and his anti-establishment son.
Through the eyes and emotions of the Gaines family, Daniels’ film follows the changing tides of American politics and race relations; from the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., to the Freedom Riders and Black Panther movements, to the war in Vietnam and the Watergate scandal, Cecil experiences the effects of these events as both an insider and a family man.
With an incredible supporting cast that includes John Cusack, Jane Fonda, Cuba Gooding Jr, Terrence Howard, Lenny Kravitz, James Marsden, Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Redgrave, Alan Rickman, Liev Schreiber and Robin Williams, Lee Daniels’ THE BUTLER is a story about the resilience of one man, the growth of a nation, and the power of family.

Have a look at the new trailer for Image Entertainment’s EVERY DAY starring Liev Schreiber, Helen Hunt, Carla Gugino, Eddie Izzard & Brian Dennehy. “It’s never too late to make the right decision.”
Synopsis:
Ned (Liev Schreiber) is in the throes of a mid-life crisis. His work as a writer on an outrageous, semi-pornographic TV show is less than satisfying. His fifteen year old son has just told him he is gay and his eleven year old is afraid of, well pretty much everything. When his wife, Jeannie (Helen Hunt), moves her sick and embittered father (Brian Dennehy) from Detroit into their home in NY, it puts added stress on an already strained marriage. And when a sexy female co-worker (Carla Gugino) puts the moves on Ned, the temptation sends him spiraling. Every Day is about one family’s struggle to survive the unexpected curve-balls that are simply part of real life; aging and death; commitment and freedom; love and acceptance. It’s an uncompromising look at an ordinary family making an extraordinary journey towards themselves and towards each other.
Rated R, EVERY DAY will be in theaters on January 14, 2011.
Ladies, get ready for an awesome action flick… Men, you too if you are a big Angelina Jolie fan!
Evelyn Salt is a CIA agent who is very good at her job. Her loyalty is put to the test when a Russian man enters the CIA offices claiming that a spy named Evelyn Salt will shoot the Russian President on United State soil, starting a war between the countries. When the officers lock her in a room for questioning, Salt breaks free and runs to find her husband. Is she innocent or is she really a Russian spy?
This movie is a lot of fun! The action scenes are entertaining, and the storyline is interesting to watch. There are quite a few twists and turns that leave the audience guessing! The best way to describe it would be to compare it to an espionage book that is a real page turner. This movie plays out like a fantastic book! Jolie has some crazy stunt moves that were extremely impressive! Liev Schreiber plays her coworker Ted Winters, who stands by her side, convinced that they have pegged the wrong person. Schreiber is always good in roles where he plays an officer or a villain. There is just something about him that makes him perfect for those type of roles.
This film was actually written for a male. Tom Cruise was approached to do this film, and when he turned it down they rewrote the part for a female. Enter Angelina Jolie! (Applause… Applause)
I did notice a trend when the film let out… The women all loved it, and the men simply thought it was ok. This is definitely a chick action movie! Probably because so many chicks have a little ‘lady wood’ going on for Ms. Jolie. Seriously, she might be the cause of why bisexuality became hip, because I know a ton of women with crushes on the pouty-lipped A-lister! The only bad thing I will say is that the wigs in this film were terrible! I do not want to watch a film and notice instantly that the character has a really bad wig on. Seriously, studio peeps, get better wigs!
