PILGRIMAGE, the new film from Brendan Muldowney, centers on a group of monks who undertake a pilgrimage to transport their monastery’s holiest relic to Rome. When the true significance of the relic is revealed, the journey becomes much more treacherous, and the group’s faith and loyalty to one another are tested.
Jon Bernthal (Fury, The Walking Dead) and Richard Armitage (The Hobbit, Hannibal) star with Tom Holland, who played one of Naomi Watts’ sons in The Impossible and currently is the new Spider-man

Bernthal plays a mute brother with a violent past. Armitage portrays a misanthropic knight with whom the monks are forced to share their journey. Holland plays the entry character of the story, a pious young novice.
Pilgrimage is an Irish production, backed by the Irish Film Board and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, with funding from Belgium’s Wallimages and the Wallonia Cultural Fund. Conor Barry and John Keville of Dublin’s Savage Productions produced with Benoit Roland of Belgium’s Wrong Men North.
Leaving his Irish monastery for the first time, a young novice (Tom Holland, Spiderman: Homecoming) departs with a devoted group of monks and a mysterious former Crusader (Jon Bernthal, “The Punisher”) as they attempt to transport a holy relic to Rome. Threatened at every turn by savage tribes, traitorous Norman soldiers and those that seek the power they believe the relic holds, the young man finds surprising courage while faced with deadly challenges that will push his body, mind and spirit to the breaking point.
