A half-century has passed since THE GRADUATE  was released just after the Summer of LoveThat technically makes Benjamin Braddock a “baby boomer,” but when viewed through the filter of 50 years it’s clear: Benjamin is the proto-Millennial.

Blending observant comedy and biting satire, Mike Nichols’ THE GRADUATE helped pave the way for the youth-driven comedies of the ’70s and ’80s, created a genuine movie star — and reflected the kind of ennui that didn’t have a name then, and is much-discussed now.  Supported by an iconic soundtrack by Simon & GarfunkelTHE GRADUATE was one of the decade’s biggest hits — its $140 million box-office gross would be $740 million in today’s dollars … and it remains an insightful and funny exploration into life, love and growing up during uncertain times.
