Sylvester Stallone, THE MARTIAN Among Nominees For 73rd Golden Globe Awards

Nominees for the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.

Todd Haynes’ CAROL received the most nominations with five nominations including Best Motion Picture, Drama, Best Director, Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama for both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara and Best Original Score for Carter Burwell.

THE BIG SHORT, THE REVENANT, STEVE JOBS received four each, while THE DANISH GIRL, THE HATEFUL EIGHT, THE MARTIAN, SPOTLIGHT and ROOM received three globe noms a piece. Best surprises of the morning were the inclusions in the supporting actor category – Sylvester Stallone for his performance in CREED and Paul Dano’s portrayal of Brian Wilson in LOVE & MERCY.

Noticeably absent from today’s announcement were Tom Hanks (BRIDGE OF SPIES), Johnny Depp (BLACK MASS), Michael Keaton and Mark Ruffalo (SPOTLIGHT).

The Academy announces their nominations next month live on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 5:30 a.m. PT at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Golden Globe-winner Angela Bassett, Golden Globe-winner and two-time nominee America Ferrera, Chloë Grace Moretz and two-time Golden Globe Award-nominee Dennis Quaid joined previously announced Miss Golden Globe, Corinne Foxx, Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) President, Lorenzo Soria, and Executive VP of Television at dick clark productions, Barry Adelman, in announcing the nominees in 25 categories spanning motion picture and television.

The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will air on Sunday, January 10, 2016, LIVE coast-to-coast on NBC from 8:00-11:00 p.m. (EST)/5:00-8:00 p.m. (PST) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA
