Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is #1 at the box office and has posted an estimated $96.2 million in its domestic debut April 4-6.

Rentrak’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, “With over $300 million to date, Disney/Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER takes the world by storm. Earning $203.3 million this weekend worldwide and with its $207.1M international to date total, the film also surpasses the box office of the original installment in only 10 days of release.” Cap fans and moviegoers gave the movie an A CinemaScore.

Set after the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington DC. However, peace is fleeting, and when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Captain America must put on his uniform once more, and fight an unexpected and formidable enemy. Read Jim Batts’ review HERE.

So how will this tie in to ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”?

With blockbusters like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and The Avengers, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will expand even further on August 1st when director James Gunn’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY hits theaters.
