Always the first Wednesday evening of every month, the fun happens at Schlafly Bottleworks Restaurant and Bar in Maplewood (7260 Southwest Ave.- at Manchester – Maplewood, MO 63143). This week, on Wednesday April 2nd at 8pm, they’re venturing it’s sheer ’90s insanity with the amazing TANK GIRL!

TANK GIRL (1995) is the story of a futuristic feminist superhero and her fight to preserve the environment against an evil government bureaucracy. The action is set in the year 2033, after an ecological disaster of drought and pollution has ravaged the countryside, and water is scarce. Tank Girl (Lori Petty) is a sassy punker who has her own vintage tank in tow, along with other high-tech weapons. Her mutant squatter friends including Jet Girl (Naomi Watts), join her defying the evil empire that sells water at extortionist prices. Genetic mutant warriors recite beat poetry. And watch Malcom MacDowell as the chief of the Department of Water and Power gives his best Alec DeLarge leer. If you expect to follow a plot here, you miss the movie. It’s about babes, dancing, defiance and motorized vehicles. Pedophiles, Dancers, Orgies, Decadence, Greed and Ice-T as a terrorist kangaroo are all foiled by irreverent punks in stolen hardware. And it’s got a heroine who claims that pain makes her wet! Why would you want to miss that?!?!?
