What happens when you sneak your camcorder into Disneyworld and stealthily film a feature-length neo-noir sci-fi fantasy comedy horror thriller narrative? Find out this weekend when the critically-acclaimed ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW screens at Webster University Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at 7:30pm.

ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW tells of Jim (Roy Abramsohn) and his wife Emily (Elena Schuber) who take their kids Sara (Katelynn Rodriguez) and Elliot (Jack Dalton) to Disney World. As they are about to go to the park for another day, Jim receives a phone call informing him that he has lost his job. Shocked from that body blow, he must pretend to be the diligent father at Disney World, which is a brutally idiotic place to be when facing such a personal disaster. Jim grows increasingly obsessed with two vivacious teenage girls, clandestinely following them around the park while experiencing an acute break from reality, and keeping his newly unemployed status a carefully guarded secret from his unsuspecting family. Hallucinations and madness ensue.

We Are Movie Geeks has not seen ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW but have heard nothing but great things about it. It’s been described as “Subversive”, “surreal”, and “psychologically disintegrating”. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts would never have signed off on allowing writer/director Randy Moore and his crew to make this movie on their property and it’s apparently his guerilla-style tactics that make the Black-and-white film work so well. It’s been said that anyone who sees ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW will never again perceive the family-friendly amusement park in quite the same way.

Variety writes of Escape From Tomorrow:

“a sneakily subversive exercise in low-budget surrealism and anti-corporate satire”

The Los Angeles Times writes:

“a horror-laced fever dream in monochrome black and white. First-time director Randy Moore achieves stunningly beautiful compositions made all the more impressive by the difficult circumstances of the shooting”
