Heads up, Marvel movie maniacs! Let’s get a new look at Cap, the Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Falcon and more from Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER with 9 new photos from the movie. Now up above, as if I need to tell you, is Chris Evans as Cap himself, AKA Captain Steve Rogers. This is his fourth big screen outing as the “living legend of World War II” and his uniform this time seems, well, much darker. Perhaps this is to reflect his growing role at S.H.I.E.L.D., since rumor has it that he’s now one of that high-tech agency’s high-ranking agents. In the original 1960’s comic books, Cap divided his time primarily between working with Nick Fury and leading the Avengers (we won’t see him back with that team on screen for another sixteen months). So, who’s this below us?

Why, it’s the mysterious Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan)! As you can infer by the casting, this new film foe is part of our hero’s past. The Soldier has proved to be one of the most popular additions to the comic book series in recent years and has made appearances in several books and on the Marvel animated TV shows.  In the trailer we’ve seen him actually grab Cap’s shield in mid-flight, and from the looks of this pic, it seems he’s not letting go of it without a fight!

Here’s a shot of the villain known as Crossbones, renegade SHIELD agent Brock Rumlow (Frank Grillo). You can spot him a couple of times in the trailer, first as Cap leaps out of the jet, and later as he leads an assault on Cap in a crowded elevator. Just what does he have up his sleeve (besides all manner of weaponry)?

Back for her third big screen appearance is one of SHIELD’s finest, the Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). Usually clad in all black, we see that she has donned more casual attire, perhaps for a much-needed personal day. But with her pistol drawn, it looks like she’s back on the job and ready to sting!

Here’s two of the big guns of SHIELD, Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) & Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). After sitting out IRON MAN 3 and THOR: THE DARK WORLD, Jackson returns as Marvel’s top spy guy. Rumor has it that the Oscar-winning Redford plays one of the founders of SHIELD. Could he be more powerful than the shadowy council we saw in the first Avengers flick?

Suited up and ready for action is Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Again we have the toned-down uniform, this time with a chin-strap helmet/mask reminiscent of his WWII duds. One rumor suggests that we may see those same duds once more during this film, along with long-time comics foe Batroc.

Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) meets  Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) perhaps prior to the conference room conversation/briefing we’ve witnessed in the trailer. I wonder if Pierce once had the same Cap trading card set as Phil Coulson?

Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) perhaps plotting a course of action. She’s back in her usual attire complete with the widow’s sting bracelets, but on this mission she’s without her partner Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye. But they may have another avian-named ally for this adventure…© 2014 Marvel. All Rights Reserved.

And that ally is Anthony Mackie as SHIELD agent Sam Wilson AKA the Falcon. Introduced as Cap’s crime-fighting partner in the comics of the early seventies (they shared billing as the book’s title for a time), Wilson is now a full agent who looks to have been outfitted with some high-tech metallic retractable wings (as opposed to the feathered suit and bird sidekick from the comics). From the trailer it looks like the Falcon leaps off the damaged SHIELD heli-carrier and take flight against enemy forces.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk.

Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn.

When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is produced by Kevin Feige, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo, Alan Fine and Stan Lee.

The film releases April 4, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
