Special effects legend Ray Harryhausen, whose dazzling and innovative visual effects work on fantasy adventure films such as JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS and THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD passed away last month at age 92. THE RAY HARRYHAUSEN SUPER-8 TRIBUTE took place this past Tuesday, July 2nd at the Way Out Club in St. Louis and was a great way to honor the stop-motion wizard who breathed cinematic life into the gargantuan, the mythical and the extinct.

We showed condensed versions of eleven of Harryhausen’s films in the Super-8 Sound condensed format over the 4 ½ hour show. We also displayed the RAY HARRYHAUSEN MODEL AND MEMORABILIA EXHIBIT. This was a huge exhibit of resin model kits, toys, and movie memorabilia (much of it signed by RH himself) featuring the films and monsters of Ray Harryhausen. The pieces in the exhibit came from my collections as well as that of Fred Meyer, who always works as the doorman for my monthly Super-8 Movie Madness Show. Here are some photos of the exhibit.
