Recently nominated for an Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award for his portrayal of Sen. John McCain in HBO’s “Game Change,” Oscar nominee Ed Harris plays the captain of a Cold War Soviet missile submarine in this trailer for PHANTOM.

Secretly suffering from seizures that alter his perception of reality and forced to leave his wife and daughter, Captain Demi is rushed into a classified mission, where he is haunted by his past and challenged by a rogue KGB group (led by David Duchovny) bent on seizing control of the ship’s nuclear missile. With the fate of humanity in his hands, Harris discovers he’s been chosen for this mission in the belief he would fail. PHANTOM is a suspense submarine thriller about extraordinary men facing impossible choices.

Up next for Harris in 2013 is SWEETWATER starring Jason Isaacs and January Jones and Michael Bay’s PAIN & GAIN starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson. Any film should be lucky to have stalwart Harris, who shockingly has yet to claim Oscar glory.

PHANTOM comes from the director of 2006’s LONELY HEARTS and the 2009 documentary AMY COOK: THE SPACES IN BETWEEN – Todd Robinson.

Also starring David Duchovny, William Fichtner, Lance Henriksen, Jonathon Schaech, Sean Patrick Flanery, Jason Beghe and Jason Gray-Standord,  PHANTOM will be in theaters March 1, 2013.
