THE AFRICAN QUEEN Playing at the Hi-Pointe in St. Louis
“By the authority vested in me by Kaiser William II, I pronounce you man and wife. Proceed with the execution.”
With THE AFRICAN QUEEN in 1951, director John Huston took us into the perilous rivers of Africa for a rousing journey with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn. Hepburn persuades tramp steamer captain Bogart to take his boat on a mission to sink a German warship, but first they have to make it past treacherous waters, German soldiers, and just about everything else nature has to throw at them. They also have to contend with each other. Hepburn being the prim and proper missionary and Bogart is the hard drinking, hard living type. THE AFRICAN QUEEN is great story that’s brought to life by wonderful African locations. They don’t make movies like this anymore but if you live in the St. Louis area, you’ll have the chance to see THE AFRICAN QUEEN in all its big screen glory when The Hi-Pointe Theater (1005 McCausland Ave., St. Louis, MO 63117) runs it as part of their Classic Film Series. It will be shown twice: Tuesday, October 2nd at 1:30pm and Saturday October 13th at 10:30am. Admission is only $5
