Red Carpet Premiere For David Chase’s NOT FADE AWAY – Watch The New Trailer
In the same vein as Tom Hanks’ THAT THING YOU DO!, here’s the first trailer for NOT FADE AWAY. In David Chase’s (The Sopranos) debut film, it’s 1964, the Rolling Stones appear on television and three best friends from the suburbs of New Jersey decide to form a rock band. The film masterfully captures the era’s conflicting attitudes and ideologies, all set to a dynamic soundtrack produced by the legendary Steven Van Zandt.
The cast and crew were on hand for the film’s red carpet premiere at the Centerpiece Gala Presentation at the 50th New York Film Festival on Saturday. The 17-day New York Film Festival highlights the best in world cinema, featuring top films from celebrated filmmakers as well as fresh new talent. It runs September 28 through October 14.
After it’s world premiere on Friday, journalist Joanna Langfield of TheMovieMinute.com said on her Twitter page, “David Chase’s ‘Not Fade Away’ is a sweet ’60s era rock and roll coming of ager. Designed to love and I did.”
During last week’s press conference, Chase remarked:
The film is very personal to him, but insisted it wasn’t autobiographical. Chase, like the main character, played drums as a youngster, but he refused to even label himself and his friends “a band.”
“I never even bought a set of drums,” said Chase. “I played on cardboard boxes and stuff. We never got out of the basement.”
The cast includes John Magaro, Jack Huston, Will Brill, Bella Heathcote, Brad Garrett, Christopher McDonald and James Gandolfini. From Paramount Vantage and Indian Paintbrush, in association with The Weinstein Company, NOT FADE AWAY will be in theaters December 21, 2012.
