EVIL DEAD Remake Synopsis Released
Though he made millions directing the “Spiderman” franchise, Sam Raimi wouldn’t be where he is today without having first directed one of the greatest horror movies of the ‘80’s………THE EVIL DEAD starring Bruce Campbell was one of the most exuberant, inventive, comic-book, tongue-in-cheek parodies with horror themes ever produced. But that was 30 years ago, so someone has deemed that it must be remade, so here ya go. Raimi and Campbell are listed as producers for the update, which opens next April 12, so if it’s got there blessing, I’m all in!
Here’s what TriStar Pictures is telling us about the remake’s plot so far:
In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
Wow, that’s quite an update! But hey, why mess with a good thing, right?!
First time director Fede Alvarez, handpicked by Raimi based on some shorts he’d done, helms the project which stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor, and Jessica Lucas (I haven’t heard of any of these people either). Will Campbell make a cameo? Will they make it into a stage musical? What was great about Evil Dead was its low budget charm so will a big budget strip that away? We’ll see.
