Ronnies 20 Cine’s IMAX Screen Goes Digital

Upgrade Allows Highest Quality and More Titles on Huge Screen

St. Louis’ first IMAX silver screen is now digital! Wehrenberg Theatres’ Ronnies 20 Cine, 5320 South Lindbergh, is home to the first and largest IMAX flat-screen in the St. Louis area. The St. Louis-based company announced today the IMAX screen is being converted from physical film prints to fully digital projection. One of the most respected and recognizable movie industry brands in the nation just became even more immersive!
Guests will notice the crisp, sharp pictures. They will also appreciate the last shows of a film’s run will be as perfect as opening night. Digital prints are immune to cracks, pops, scratches and fading associated with reel prints.
This huge screen is over 30’ high and 55’ wide taking up the entire wall! A brand new IMAX screen was installed for digital equipment, and it will be 3D capable as well. Another bonus for Ronnies IMAX guests is the new technology allows the theatre access to a greater library of movie titles. Some IMAX blockbusters are released only in digital, thus preventing Ronnies from featuring them in the past. That will no longer be a concern and guests can expect all highly- anticipated Hollywood hits to debut in St. Louis’ premiere theatre.
Wehrenberg Theatres will introduce the new digital version of IMAX to St. Louis Friday, April 29 with Universal’s Fast Five, starring Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This action-packed thrill ride is the perfect way to debut the latest IMAX technology! The amazing visual experience and superior sound clarity truly immerse audiences with the huge screens and state-of-the-art audio technology.
“This has been an exciting time for us,” said Ronald P. Krueger, Chairman and Co-CEO of Wehrenberg Theatres. “Last week we added 3D to our enormous Mega Screen and now we’ve converted our IMAX theatre to digital. We promised to stay committed to bringing our guests the latest technology, and we will keep doing so. Indeed, keep an eye out for more advances later this summer.”
