Most of the  10 films nominated by the PGA this morning will most likely be vying for the Academy Award on March 7th and the Best Picture  race is coming into focus.  The Oscar and the PGA have matched up 13 times over the 20 years. 3 Sci-Fi films make the cut! It’s great to see STAR TREK and DISTRICT 9 in the mix.  Will Neill Blomkamp see a Director’s nod from the Director’s Guild later this week??  A double nomination for UP is Huge! With a snub of NINE, I think its pretty safe to say it’s D.O.A. Overall, I’m very pleased with all the nominations and glad to see both big and small budget films throughout the list.

After AMPAS announced in June that there’d be 10 Best Picture nominees,  the Producers Guild of America decided to be a buncha copycats. Heaven forbid that they be left out, the PGA announced that the 2010 PGA Awards nominations in the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures Category would go from five to ten films.

The 21st Annual PGA Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 24, 2010, and will be held once again at the Hollywood Palladium.

Huge passion for film scores, lives for the Academy Awards, loves movie trailers. That is all.
