Super Badass Geek Stuff: ‘Big Lebowski’ Cake

While these aren’t the best quality pictures of the cake, they’re the best I could find on the ole Inter of Net. For those of you who don’t watch the show, Food Network has a really cool show they run called Ace of Cakes which chronicles pastry chef Duff’s cake-making adventures at Charm City Cakes. Duff is a former art student and sculptor who studied culinary arts and then opened a cake shop with his friends. Now, he’s known across the country for making the coolest cakes around and gets requests from all sorts of people and organizations to make uniquely awesome custom cakes for just about any occasion.

On this particular episode, Duff and company are commissioned to create one, kick-ass, original cake for the original LebowskiFest in Kentucky. As it turns out, Duff is a massive Lebowski fan and proceeds to get all giddy about the job, quoting the movie constantly throughout the day to the point of annoying his co-workers. The team works together creating one cool cake in the shape of Bunny’s severed toe. The cake itself is flavored to taste like a white Russian, which is The Dude’s drink of choice. It even has a green polished toenail.

In addition, they make several Lebowski themed accent pieces out of fondant (that’s a special type of sculpt-able cake icing) including a bowling pin backdrop, a bottle of Kahlua, a bottle of vodka, a carton of half & half and a really neat, giant shot glass of edible white Russian. Duff delivered the cake to Kentucky from Baltimore (home of Charm City Cakes) and his rock band played at the festival. Lucky guy!

Oh yeah, as an added bonus they also made an awesome Millennium Falcon cake on the same episode… Check out the photo below. Sweet! [Yes. That is a cake…]
