Guy Ritchie’s Vision for ‘Sherlock Holmes’

By  |

In talking with USA Today, Guy Ritchie spoke on what his vision for his new ‘Sherlock Holmes’ film will be.

“It will be a very big production, visceral and intellectual,” Ritchie said.   “His brilliance will percolate into the action.”

Ritchie’s film, to be headlined by Robert Downey, Jr. as the titular detective, will be based moreso on the upcoming Liolen Wiagram comic book series than one any particular story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Ritchie went on to say that Downey’s English accent is “flawless”, and the director doesn’t seem too worried about the other upcoming Sherlock Holmes film.   That one will be a comedy produced by Judd Apatow and starring Sacha Baron Cohen as Holmes and Will Farrell as Watson.

“They don’t even have a script yet,” Ritchie said.   “We are way ahead.”

Ritchie’s film begins shooting in London in October and will be released in 2010.
